Alarm clock snooze function on IOS 8

Since I've upgraded my 5S to IOS 8, the snooze function has changed. When the alarm went off, I would press either the volume up or volume down button and it would snooze the alarm. 9 minutes later, the alarm would go off again. Now if I press the same button, no snooze at all. Is this something I can change back? Please help. I've now been late to work for three days in a row. Please Apple, don't make me go buy an alarm clock. This is a stupid problem to have, but with very real consequences for your loyal users.

I've never used a song as my alarm sound. I've also never used the side buttons to silence my alarm since I realized that was shutting it off a year ago. Despite this, after pressing snooze on the front screen, it not only silences the alarm that ringing, it also silences all of the subsequent alarms I have to go off just in case.

Because I've never used a song, that doesn't seem like a fix to this, and neither does not using the side buttons I've never used.

Does anyone else have an issue with hitting snooze and silencing EVERY alarm after doing so? This is driving me crazy, the only times it doesn't seem to be a problem are the one off alarms I set on the weekends.

Just upgraded to the newest software and STILL NO FIX *** APPLE. Why does my lock button now turn off the alarm? after years of hitting that to snooze, now I have to make sure I hit the tiny little button that says snooze. with the "ok" button which turns off the alarm so close to the snooze button (within a cm), this is literally a bug a ******** kid could fix, but Apple hides their coding from the users. Hence why pretty much all IT/computer science people turn to "open source" OS's for their phones.

if the screen isn't "locked" and you hit the top sleep button to snooze, it completly turns off The alarm. I too have never used anything but Old ring as the alarm because it's the only sound loud enough my phone can make that I will hear.

I have experienced this issue through IOS 8 to present. I realized from this discussion that using songs frequently as my alarm sound likely caused the problem. I rely heavily on my alarm many mornings in order to have any hope of waking up on time. Any sound that I become accustomed to will eventually fail to wake me up (especially if I had little sleep). Also, I do not really wake up until a couple of snoozes have gone by--meaning I'm often not in control of which buttons I hit on my phone to stop that loud noise (whatever selection I made). The right types of songs seem to help me become aware much faster without starting my morning by groaning a four letter word. So the snooze problem has caused many late morning panics after waking up just as I was supposed to leave even though I set multiple alarms.

For those who like or need multiple snoozes and a regular change to your (hopefully pleasant) alarm sound, I can tecommend a free app that works well for me: Sleep Cycle Alarm Clock. It is also a sleep tracker, but I use it for the intelligent wake up and snooze modes. In order to truly stop the alarm from more snoozes, I need to interact with the app, simply, but not too simply for me to do it before I am truly awake. And I get to use my music to wake me up. i actually adore it for the slow, gentle wake up method it uses.
