iTunes Match Playlist Folder Structure Wrong On New iPhone

So I recently received the iPhone 6, and set up my account. i subscribe to iTunes Match and have my playlists structured within folders (Live playlists, Movie Soundtracks, etc).

On my MBA, it shows correctly. On my old iPhone, it shows correctly. On my iPad it shows correctly. On my iPhone 6, however, it's completely screwed up. Some playlists are top level, nested folders are top level, some folders have the correct playlists. I tried a few things:

I turned iTunes Match off and on in the phone.

I did a restore on the phone.

I set up the phone again as a brand new phone, and turned Match on again.

I deleted folders and playlists on my Mac.

I recreated folders on my Mac.

Nothing has worked. I contacted Apple Support via chat, and the tech and I tried some things but nothing worked. I'm getting a call from Support this evening.

So I put this out there, has anyone ever seen this before? Thanks.

Some additional info: I did upgrade my old phone and iPad to iOS 8. Both still worked fine (I wiped the old phone however, selling it soon).

Here is an update from my end. I received absolutely no competent advice from apple support - unfortunately the people I was speaking to simply did not get the problem. I don't blame them - they appear to have the remit of providing links to pages on the apple website and nothing else.

I have, however, had success by undertaking my own analysis of the situation and issue. Here is a summary:

Issue: Playlist structure shown on devices (iPhone/ipad) was not the same as the core 'matched' iTunes library on my macbook. Updating iTunes match, turning off/on iTunes match did not fix the issue. There appeared to be nothing I could do at the iTunes library side to fix the issue. There were about 30 playlists that were in the wrong place (i.e: wrong folder).

Fix: Created new playlists (for each of the 30 problem playlists) on iTunes library and deleted the problem playlists.

Haven't had any problems since. Appears that for a selection of playlists, whatever structure was held on the apple servers over-rode the actual structure held in my library.

After reading the analysis above from Genius64835, I found the quickest solution was to go to my master library in iTunes and select "duplicate" for every playlist in my library, which creates a copy of the playlist in the same location named "same name 1." I deleted all the original playlists, and then removed the superfluous "1" from the names of the duplicate playlists.

A pain, but the fixes were instantly propagated to all my iTunes Match devices. Much less of a pain than trying to call Apple Support.

My playlists are a mess on my brand new iPhone 6, and I have hundreds of them, in nested folders, because that's what iTunes has allowed me to do for years, and I expected it to work the same across all my devices as advertised. It's amazing they can't fix a problem like this on their end, if users are able to fix it by re-creating their playlists manually (not really an option for me with the volume of playlists).

iTunes match has been out for over 3 years, and iOS 8 for 9 months. It seems like Apple forgot that it was the iPod that made the way for the iPhone. The least they could do is keep supporting the functionality that's supposed to be there. iTunes match is plagued with tons of other issues, too, but I'm too deeply integrated into iTunes (see: my hundreds of playlists) to switch to something else, so I just keep waiting for the next release to fix everything; but it isn't getting better – it's actually getting worse.
