Car Bluetooth Connectivity Issue with iPhone 6

Just got the iPhone 6 on Friday -- very exciting! But I can't get the phone to connect to my Mini Countryman's bluetooth. The phone will detect the car's bluetooth signal, and says it's connected, but calls aren't audible via the car stereo system, but rather the phone itself. And if I don't turn the bluetooth off, my car thinks I'm on a call and the radio won't work.

It's frustrating because this feature use to work with my 5s. A friend of mine is having the same issue in his car. And I've seen others complain about this -- seems like an Apple issue. Not sure though.

im on my second iPhone 6 now as the Apple Store replaced my original one Saturday to try and fix the problem.... No luck, this phone is on 8.0.2 my returned was on 8.1 when it quit working after updating to 8.1(woraked from launch day with no issues)

i was just fine on the way home and able to play music but as soon as I synced my contacts on iCloud the next time I returnEd to the car it presented the same problems my original phone did with intermittent connectivity.

this is an ios8 issue no doubt because it's not limited to the 6 or 6 plus. I can connect a 4s to the car no issues at all with 7.1 installed on it.

The car is a 2013 VW GLI with RCD-510 head unit. I have no been able to find any reports or new firmware for this car nor does it need it when I could connect from launch day up until three weeks ago. Maybe it has something to do with I cloud? Long shot but who knows.

For most people who were experiencing issues 8.0.2 was an issue for Bluetooth Connectivity, which 8.1 solved for the vast majority. You're one of the few I've read who had issues as a result of 8.1. But I would recommend you update to 8.1.1, which is the most current iOS version and see if that resolves your issues.

Something is up with the way it handles connections and audio... Something on the phone is trying to search or connect or adjust while its connected.

I was able to listen to 10 minutes worth of music by blind luck on my way home today (not a long drive) but I started spotify, noticed it wasnt connected to VW PHONE (what my car identifies as) inside the app so I selected it and some how was good to go on my way home....

Im not holding my breath but Apple really needs to address it, I am sure in their employee lot there has to be one person who works there with an ios8 device and having issues staying connected to their car's audio. Bluetooth should not have backwards compatibility issues.

I hate to be dramatic, but if fix I may have found by dumb luck doesnt persist or the next update doesnt lock everything up I will either trade this for a 5s on 7.1 or look else where for an android phone. It isnt ideal because I really like everything else about the 6.

I have a Subaru 2011 Forester with a Kenwood FXDD07KF2 Navigation System and an iPhone 6 running iOS 8.1.3. Beginning with iOS 8, the only problem I have with the Bluetooth connection occurs when I use hands free Siri to dial a call. When I tell Siri to "call xxxxx", Situ responds with "calling xxxx" and then the phone disconnects before connecting the call. To this point, I have done an iPhone reset, Restore, and Reset All Settings. I have also deleted the phone from the Subaru Bluetooth and deleted the Subaru from the phone. Then once all was clear, and I recycled power from both, I reconnected. No difference. Hope iOS 8.2 fixes this Bluetooth problem. All worked perfect before iOS 8. Just my 2 cents. Ideas? Thanks.

2 cars, Subaru Forrester 2014 and Impreza 2013. Never had a problem with my iPhone5 and my wife's iPhone4S.

Now we both have iPhone6 and although I can connect fairly easy as soon as I turn the car (or radio) off or leave the area it doesn't connect back like it used to do, I have to look for the device on settings and connect manually.

Extremely annoying, I've been reading trough several threads, tried many suggestions and the phones are running on the latest 8.1.3 but the problems persist.

First it was the bending, now this. Not a happy camper!

I just upgraded to an iPhone 6 and am having similar issues. I have deleted the pairing several times on both ends with no luck and have reset the network settings a few times also. I have iOS 8.1.3 and am pairing with an 2013 Infiniti M37. My iOS7 5S worked perfectly for phone, audio, Siri, and map app directions. Now I can only get the phone feature to work and not consistently. No audio or siri and map app directions and coming through intermittently through the phone connection. Any thoughts or ideas?

Cheers

I'm still having problems. At the Verizon store they couldn't help and offered to change my phone. I accepted given the slight bend on my original one but didn't have any expectations about the bluetooth issues. The issues persisted and I will be more careful about putting my phone on the back pocket.

I have an new iPhone 6s which I have successfully paired with the HandsFree Link on my 2012 CRV.

i was previously using an iPad Air 2 as my device and I couldn't figure out how to add another new device (updated to 9.0.2.)

When I saw the ”add a phone” prompt I dialed the control to Yes. My already paired iPad appeared.

So, I kept turning the dial to Phone Setup ( which is what I hadn't done previously!).

I selected that (push); a prompt asked to ”connect to a phone” and I selected ”no.”

Then I selected “Connection,” rotated the knob to ”Add a New Phone,” selected “Empty.”

The phone didn't appear, so I selected ”Phone Not Found.”

On the phone, ”HandsFree Link” pooped up under Bluetooth Devices so I selected that.

A 4 digit pairing code was provided by the voice prompt and I had to input that on my phone.

There was then a notification on the CRV to say it was successful.

I hope that helps.
