usb connectivity in car not working after ios 8 update

Hi,

I can no longer access music on my iPhone 5 via the USB connectivity in my 2014 Chrysler 300 since I updated to ios 8. Before the update this feature was operating without any issues.

Is this happening to anyone else? If so is Apple aware of this issue?

Hi All, I didn't want to go through the nausea of resetting the phone and having to reload my settings, so I had a read through of all the suggestions, and tried Pervy's suggestion "SETTINGS...MUSIC...turn off SHOW ALL MUSIC... then connect via USB." combined with Bawse's, which was to switch off bluetooth, forget the car on the phone and forget the phone on the car, then power the phone off and on. I then turned the car off and on. I then connected the USB cable and the car controls worked properly at last!! I disconnected and reconected a couple of times and it is still working. Fingers crossed. I then re-paired the phone with bluetooth and all is still ok. Cheers JD

2010 Ford falcon xr50 turbo still not working with iPhone 6 even after 8.4 update. Tried forgetting device and resetting phone settings. Will play sometimes then may stop playing, or when switching tracks or browsing album using vehicle controls the menus disappear and can no longer control phone. I have to say it is disappointing as I have had to revert to burning MP3 cds. iOS7 worked fine.

I'm afraid frustration with not being able to satisfactorily utilise the entertainment system in my BMW has led me to take fairly extreme action. I have now removed the BMW radio/music player and installed an Alpine iLX-700 in my car which features Apple's CarPlay. This has resolved all of my issues, I can now move from music to audiobooks without a problem and it also gives excellent access to phone (via SIRI too) and maps (on its screen). Sound quality is excellent too. Only, downside is that I have lost bluetooth and have to connect my phone via the lightning cable to USB. Not too concerned about that as I had to connect my iPhone anyway for charging and listening purposes. Self-installation was a bit of a chore as I wanted to retain steering-wheel control of the unit and the car's audible warning signals but I am more than satisfied with the end result.

Updated to 8.4 with Apple music and ran into connectivity issues with my USB. Luckily my stereo produced an error of "No Songs." Turns out the switch to 8.4 with apple music (Family Plan) wiped my music library and my iPhone didn't have any local "Music" content so my stereo wasn't reading it as a music device. Adding a song to my music fixed my issue right away(including the ability to play streaming music such as Spotify and Apple Music. Definitely recommend trying this fix.
