usb connectivity in car not working after ios 8 update

Hi,

I can no longer access music on my iPhone 5 via the USB connectivity in my 2014 Chrysler 300 since I updated to ios 8. Before the update this feature was operating without any issues.

Is this happening to anyone else? If so is Apple aware of this issue?

I'm still having this problem also, even after updating to 8.1 - connects via lightening cable without any trouble about 75% of the time, the other 25% of the time i have to hard reset my phone as it acts as if i am unplugging and re-plugging every 10 seconds and continues to try to connect. Bluetooth (for calls) has no issues for me (Nissan Connect in 2013 Dualis) but the aux connectivity has been troublesome since ios 8.

I've got the same USB connectivity issues with my Sony MEXBT3000P stereo in my Honda.

With iOS 7, the USB connection was almost flawless, I could browse and play back music and podcasts via the stereo controls.

With iOS 8.1, I can browse music but I cannot play back. It does not seem to be able to choose the correct track or make it play. It is also prone to pausing intermittently. I can find music and play it back via the phone itself but this is obviously a safety issue.

i have the iPhone 5c and had this problem and 02 have suggested the following:

Go to Settings>>> General>>> Reset>>> Reset Network Settings

Once the hand set has rebooted press the Home Button and Power Button at the same time.

Hold the buttons for a few seconds, ignoring the Slide To Power Off message.

Release the buttons after the Apple icon appears.

Now restart your handset again by pressing on the power button.

That was a soft reset and network reset and 'seems' to have worked ...

I Had this same problem too once ios8.1 was installed on a 4S with my Nissan Connect system.

But it's resolved now and all I did was go to Settings > Music and then turn off Lyrics and Podcast Info, Group By Album Artist and Show All Music. Next turned off iPhone. Then plugged the iPhone back into the USB cable in my car. iPhone turns on and a message appeared on my iPhone saying the connected device was not compatible with this iphone ( which I'd never seen appear before) then unplugged USB cable and turned on the three settings above which I had turned off previously.

Plugged iPhone back into the USB cable and hey presto all now working!

I have tried afterwards unplugging iphone, rebooting, turning car off and on etc etc but it still works :-)

I Have no idea why this worked, but I hope sharing this may help others with similar issues.

As a tidbit of info, I decided to call Apple today on this. I have a 2010 Terrain with Nav and a 2012 Charger with uConnect. All of my iOS 8 devices stopped working and my old 4s with ios7 still works. After being escalated, I spoke with a great senior advisor who also discussed this with multiple other senior advisors. None of them were aware of these issues and agreed it is a major problem. They do not have any articles posted about this problem and are seemingly unaware that this problem ever existed outside of the bluetooth pairing problems that seem to have been resolved in 8.1. They are working with me going through various troubleshooting steps to narrow down where the issue is coming from.

My advice would be to call Apple instead of posting in forums about how Apple should fix it. They can't fix what they don't know is broken. The support rep lead me to this thread and he is documenting the issue as we go along as well as info from this thread. I'll be doing a few more steps when I get home and calling them back.

Thanks Apple Support! 🙂

Njperrone - just to add toggling those settings in Music since, has so far not "broken" it again. I had tried lots of the usual kinds of troubleshooting, swapping cables, rebooting, checked for updates for the audio system and so on. Nothing worked until changing those settings one time, powering down and so on. Just good luck? Who knows? Anyway hope you get it working.
