usb connectivity in car not working after ios 8 update

Same boat here on a 2013 Nissan Pathfinder SL. Bluetooth phone connection has been solid since iOS 8 was installed on the phone. USB connectivity for audio integration/playback hasn't worked since iOS 8. 8.1 didn't fix the issue.

Like others, I get functionality through the Pathfinder head unit to navigate the music on the iPhone - playlists/albums/artists/songs/podcasts are all visible and I can navigate to anything I want to. The problem starts as soon as I select a song/playlist to listen to. I click to select the song/playlist simply nothing happens.

I can control from the iPhone itself - selecting a song/playlist from the phone itself begins playing audio through the USB connection. But nothing is displayed on the system screen.

This phone worked perfectly with the Pathfinder before the iOS 8 update.

How did you "forget the device". 8.1 is now broken again for me. I tried playing music and it was how it was again, before 8.1. Very annoying! 😠

I have the same problem since getting my iPhone 6 with IOS 8. I am no longer able to use the buttons on my stereo while playing music on my iPhone with the USB attached. I have a Sony MEXBT4000P that was designed to work with the iPhone. Now it only plays music and I can't switch songs or it freezes and I have to start my playlist all over again. A real pain if I'm driving. Basically I have lost most of the functionality of my car stereo with IOS 8

After a month and many resets and ios updates and trying all the suggestions on many websites...the solution for me was so simple, it's stupid.

SETTINGS...MUSIC...turn off SHOW ALL MUSIC...connect via USB...paired-up in a few minutes for the first time since ios8 upgrade. YAY! Playlists, songs, artists, etc...they're all back.

What does that have to do with USB controls? Did that fix your car not skipping songs properly, etc?

Gets Uconnect to recognize your iphone via USB like it used to before ios8 upgrade. Settings...Music...turn OFF Show All Music...reconnect via USB. Worked for me. Try it. If you have another solution, please post it.

Thanks Pervy. Worked like a charm. My stereo is back! I had to do one more step, I powered down the phone after turning turn OFF Show All Music. That did the trick.

Meg4Roney it allows you to skip songs again with the car stereo buttons.

Well now I can't access any of my itunes match music. I stream most of my music because I have an unlimited data plan and don't have much space left.

This is only a temporary solution. It started acting up again. Try turning on show all music and restart your phone. It'll work one time.

I have a 2013 Mazda 3. After the upgrade the usb plug to play music in the car did not work. Updated my Nav system....no help. Called Mazda who stated it is a problem with the iOS 8 upgrade.

I read a help tip to restore settings on the phone earlier in the postings, so I tried this to no avail. Same problem plus had to re-set all my phone settings.

I just read Pervy's post to go to Settings - Music - Turn off "Show all Music" and thought why not? I'm so glad I did. Easy solution and now my USB plug is back to playing all my favorite music with menu screen active on the display.

Get your act together. I called Support 2 times for help with this issue and you could not resolve this problem even after updating to 8.2. Very frustrated with Apple!

Are you sure it's still working? After doing that it worked ONCE for me. Then it stopped. Have to restart your phone again and it'll work ONCE again. Since I stream my music off iTunes Match, this solution is worthless unfortunately... 😢

You mean 8.1, not to get people excited or confused
