usb connectivity in car not working after ios 8 update

Hi,

I can no longer access music on my iPhone 5 via the USB connectivity in my 2014 Chrysler 300 since I updated to ios 8. Before the update this feature was operating without any issues.

Is this happening to anyone else? If so is Apple aware of this issue?

I was able to fix my issue - maybe it will work for you.

Technical details.

Iphone 5 and iPhone 5s

Kenwood Car stereo with iPhone USB support & iPhone Blutooth support.

iTunes Match with a rather large music library of about 15,000 songs.

I've never had any issues with either of my two iPhones connecting to this stereo via usb and playing songs in my library. After I applied the iOS 8 update, whenever I would plug my phone 5 or 5s into my car stereo, the stereo would just display a blinking "reading" light. I drove across town for 20 minutes and it never played music.

Here's how I was able to make it work.

Downloaded the IOS 8.0.2 update that was just released this morning...- 10/20/14 it's no longer an issue for me.

I normally never ever update to a new iOS until after apple has released the second update for it. Now I learned my lesson for downloading IOS 8 right off the bad. Should have knows better.

I'm going to assume you mean you downloaded iOS8.1 this morning?

Also, whilst I agree that it's not always a wise move to download a new OS off the bat, if we all did that, we'd never know half the bugs that needed a fix. That said, they'll always be developers and early adopters with every product. I've just updated my OS, will test in about an hour and post back.

I can confirm the iPhone 6 with iOS8.1 now works as it used it in my 2013 Chrysler 300C.

For good measure I did the following:

  1. Forgot the device (uconnect) in the iPhone
  2. Forgot the iPhone with the uconnect (i.e. deleted the device)
  3. Re-paired the two in the car

Now I can:

  • Play music through my Bluetooth as normal (couldn't do this with iOS 8.0.1/2)
  • Change songs using Bluetooth (back and forward)
  • Make and end calls

I haven't tried receiving a call yet (which broke on the previous update), but I'll assume all is well.

I'm getting the uconnect software updated in the car this week, I hope everything still works then.

Best of luck....

Sadly, I must report that the problem I had with the USB connection from my iPhone 5 to my Mitsubishi remain. Only when I reboot the phone, does everything work fine, for a while. Then, it all stop working again.

iOS 8.1 made no difference.

This feels like I'm using Windows, having to reboot to correct an intermittent problem. Sad day for iOS.

Same boat here on a 2013 Nissan Pathfinder SL. Bluetooth phone connection has been solid since iOS 8 was installed on the phone. USB connectivity for audio integration/playback hasn't worked since iOS 8. 8.1 didn't fix the issue.

Like others, I get functionality through the Pathfinder head unit to navigate the music on the iPhone - playlists/albums/artists/songs/podcasts are all visible and I can navigate to anything I want to. The problem starts as soon as I select a song/playlist to listen to. I click to select the song/playlist simply nothing happens.

I can control from the iPhone itself - selecting a song/playlist from the phone itself begins playing audio through the USB connection. But nothing is displayed on the system screen.

This phone worked perfectly with the Pathfinder before the iOS 8 update.
