Q: iPhone 6 runs hot

Why does my new iPhone 6 run hot when applications is running?

Applications did not run hot on my iPhone 5. (Example: running "Harmony App from Logitech" for remotes)

iPhone 6, iOS 8

    Hey !

You're not the only one ! My iPhone 6 gets burning hot on the sides, just after using Facebook, so can't imagine using waze or plans. After looking on the Internet it seems to be a problem of quite a few people...

Ok, everyone says that its aluminum bla bla bla, so was my iPhone 5 and that didn't get a 1/3 as hot as this one. I reckon might go and visit my Apple store.

It's not really looking good for the iPhone 6, with this "bend gate" and overheating problems, it's a really weird sensation as well, it makes me just want to put the phone down, never has this happened on my older iPhones and looking at it, it seems to be a recurring problem ...

Thanks for the link, but I know whether the phone is being kept within useable temperatures or not.

    Third Paragraph:

When using the device or charging the battery, it is normal for it to get warm. The exterior of the device functions as a cooling surface that transfers heat from inside the device to the cooler air outside.

Ok you obviously don't understand here... If you have a look around quite a few people are complaining about this. This is not my first phone, so yeah, I know overheating when I feel it...

I do not use the phone when charging, don't use it for anything like plans waze or anything. I work for a carrier, we regularly get this sort of problem and know how to identify real overheating or just overuse.

Anyway, why I'm justifying myself to you I have no idea...

My apologies.  I didn't realize that you worked for a carrier.  Please ignore my suggestions.

Ok, just to be clear. I am a former IT Manager and level III tech support. The iPhone 6 heat issue is not happening while charging. It is just sitting on a cool surface while the remote application for Harmony remotes is running and not commands are being active.

I handed my phone to my wife and she was very surprised that it was so hot. I smell a firmware update coming!

I spoke to Apple by chat, she said there was something wrong with the phone and a restore should fix it, obviously it does nothing... Apple Store see you soon...

I recv'd my iPhone 6 on Friday.  When I did the setup it ran hot.  I was just on a call that lasted 54 minutes using a bluetooth headset and when I hung up and picked up my phone it was extremely hot.  Not Funny.  The battery is also draining really fast.  I will be visiting the Apple store for a replacement.

I notice mine gets an extremely hot spot in the upper right quadrant of the screen... does anyone know what's under there?  Is that where they put the battery?  I closed all the apps and let it just sit and it's still hot.  Is it possible that the songs or pictures are continuing to load from iCloud and that's why it's so hot?

I have an iPhone 6. I just updated from ios 8.0 to 8.0.2 against my better judgment. My phone is also running extremely hot now (wasn't before the update). I haven't tested battery life since the update. My battery life was phenomenal before updating though. Wifi does seem to be faster but App Store and iTunes slower.

I Have the same issue,  getting hot on calls more than a minute, only after the update to 8.0.2
