No incoming message sound when locked - iPhone 6, iOS 8

Hi All...

I've been trying to find an answer to this question, but have yet to resolve it. I have a new iPhone 6 plus. When a new message is received, the screen wakes up and displays the message info, but there is no associated sound. I have a sound set for messages in settings, but it doesn't matter what I choose, it still does not make a sound when an iMessage or text message comes in. The sounds do work when the phone is unlocked. I do not have Do Not Disturb turned on, the volume switch is turned on and the volume is at the top value.

Is this an iOS 8 bug? I've rebooted several times and I've done a soft reset.

Please help! 🙂

I Had the same issue. But, I found my Do Not Disturb was set to manual. Not sure why that was changed but that was my fix.

There is a silent lock button at the top left of the iPhone 6s plus that you can switch on or off! It's above the volume buttons! Hope this helps!

I've tired to sort this out for ages. It turned out to be Bluetooth. Doing a soft reset or changing alerts or checking do not disturb did not help but turning off Bluetooth fixed it. Although I now have to try and remember to turn it on again every time I get in the car!, Apple please sort this bug as it has affected two iPhones in our home.

So what I found was that I had this same problem when my Bluetooth was on regardless if I was connected to a Bluetooth device. My phone would ring but my text tone would not sound. I turned Bluetooth off and I could hear my text tone then....
