iPhone 6 camera upside down
Why does my camera take the pictures upside down? There isn't an option to rotate unless I edit ever single picture. I'm NOT using the volume button. Im using the onscreen button.

BOTH on iPhone and in iPhoto on an iMac
Add another person to the list. I went into the Apple Store and they made me reformat my phone again. Worked fine for almost 48 hrs. Now I am back to shooting upside down videos and pictures. I bought 3 iPhone 6's and only one is having this issue. Hmmmm. Genius bar just wanted to add notes to my account and send me on my way.
Reformatting does nothing.
Except to get you out of their hair, out of the store, and to give you a false sense of "hey, it works now" They don't care anymore.
Ruiners of memories.
I'm an Apple User since 1983 and I've never seen or heard of anything this bad than this iOS 8.0.X release.
Side note, if you calibrate your Compass App that "seemed" to help a little.
iHelp Us!
iOS 8.0.3 NOW!
I'm seeing the same behaviour on a year old iPhone 5s.
Restarting the phone seems to help temporarily.
Killing the compass app, restarting the compass app and trying to calibrate shows the calibration skipping 90 degree segments of the calibration 'ring' (ie, when you're trying to roll the red ball around the circle). The 90 segment changes during different calibration attempts. Once the calibration is finished, the compass and the spirit level functions will behave erratically.
In my case, I feel this is related to the camera icons being upside down... I can't calibrate the gyroscopes, and then the camera doesn't know which way it's pointing.
I Am also having this issue. Recorded two great videos only to find them to be rotated 90 degrees. Never had this problem with my gs5. Please fix Apple!!!! You're losing your customers trust big time with these bugs.
Memories RUINED by Apple!
I'm sorry I really feel you (unlike Apple) I've been an AppleUser since 1983 I've NEVER seen or heard of anything this bad.
On a plus I heard iOS 8.1 is coming October 20th. That is to far away, I know! but its hope.
Side note, if you calibrate your Compass App that "seemed" to help a little. Just pay attention before you shoot video in the mean time. Such iBS though!
I found an app in the app store that will rotate your videos for you and it's very easy to use. It's called "Video Rotate and Flip". It has been a lifesaver saving my upside down videos!
If you didn't notice, there's no Apple here except us users. We cannot fix it.
Have you tried using the 4 basic trouble shooting steps:
Restart / Reset

Restore from backup
Restore as new
I am on the iPhone 6 running 8.0.2 iOS
I am having The exact same issue but get this mine also does it in FaceTime upside down video.
Unbelievable Apple has really dropped the ball.
It's funny how there is not one Apple person in this fourm speaking about this.
The only quickfix I found for this is to double tap your home button and close your camera when you reopen it it should be fine. At least it is for me
On a different note my old iPhone 5 battery now holds zero charge ever since I downloaded iOS 8.0.2
I have faced the same problem on Facetime and camera as well.
- iOS8 on my iPhone 5s - Facetime video started showing upside down. It happened in all orientation. Same thing worked fine on my ipad with iOS 7
- iOS8 on my iPhone 5s - SloMo video came upside down for one video and for next video it was fine. Some crazy bug.
BTW do not worry about ruining memory the upside down can be fixed with some video editors so dont delete them. Just do some google and you will find some converters to do that.
Im using iPhone 6 iOS 8.0.2
I started having the stuck orientation camera problem on a plane in Airplane Mode. And the problem continued once airplane mode was turned off.
Many videos damaged or reduced to Square aspect ratio (you can rotate them back in iMovie or other video apps/NLEs).
Reboot and compass calibration did not fix.
Settings/Compass True North switch ON did fix it... For now, but how will that effect other camera apps I use? Not sure yet, but I'm testing now.
I have trouble understanding how this wasn't cat by apple QA..,
Update: Compass tweaking didn't help. locking the phone orientation to portrait seems to be the only workaround for me.
Same issue here. Compass fix didnt work. I really hope this is resolved soon. Incredibly frustrating. I am on iPhone 6.
