iPhone 6 camera upside down

Why does my camera take the pictures upside down? There isn't an option to rotate unless I edit ever single picture. I'm NOT using the volume button. Im using the onscreen button.

I had the same trouble. It started yesterday. I shut down the camera and then restarted it. That seemed to help. But what I did notice is that some landscape apps were not functioning properly..i.e. they would not convert to landscape mode. I turned the phone off completely last night to see if a proper reset will help. So far no issues. But I think this may be bigger than just a few isolated occurrences. Apple...thougts?

Yep, same issue here. Haven't done too much troubleshooting, but camera app is randomly locking on a particular aspect (upside down / portrait / landscape), and will not rotate back to normal orientation. Even after closing and reopening camera app, recalibrating compass. This is frustrating, I will have to find a third party app to go through and fix all the pictures and videos I've taken over the last few weeks (and there are a lot, because otherwise this camera rocks!).

I Am still having issues with orientation with 8.1. Why the **** didn't Apple include this in the update?! This has been the most frustrating release of a phone in the history of owning iPhones. It seems like a pretty easy fix to me. who cares about Apple pay when only 10 businesses accept it. Fix the issues that are important Apple! There are a lot of iphoneographers out there and I'm sure they're just as frustrated as I am.

Same issue here. Bought 64GB iPhone 6 at release, pre-ship. Took photos fine for a week, then started the flipping of photo (and video) orientations. Got progressively worse. Went on a trip and 3/4 of photos are flipped one way or another, despite always trying to put the volume buttons down, as I've read to do elsewhere. The compass calibration tool didn't work. After the release of the iOS 8.1, it didn't improve. My sister bought the same phone at the same time, and it wasn't having the issues. But suddenly after the update, it is happening to her too.

Any other suggestions or input much appreciated!

I chatted with Apple Support and was able to fix it, at least for now by resetting all settings on the iPhone.

Do this by going to Settings > General > Reset > Reset all Settings.

This will not affect data or content, but it will reset all your personal settings, including fingerprint Touch ID and PIN (but not things like wifi, app, or email passwords or settings). It's worth it, if this works.

Will provide an update later, if anything changes.
