iPhone 6 camera upside down
Why does my camera take the pictures upside down? There isn't an option to rotate unless I edit ever single picture. I'm NOT using the volume button. Im using the onscreen button.

Are you seeing them upside down on iPhone or PC?
I am having the same issue. It comes and go so far. I have to go to edit to rotate the pic the correct way.
I experience the same - I take picture in portrait mode or landscape and sometimes they are rotated 90 degrees sometimes 180
- it seems to happen if the menu on the left does not rotate with the phone - seems like the app is hanging.
Restarting the phone helped - definitely something wrong..
I am having the same issues.
What is odd, if you look at the screen. The bottom part of the screen is fine. Video, photo, square are all right side up. But at the top of the screen the buttons are all upside down. When that happens, the photo is upside down.
There is no rhyme or reason as to why this happens or why it fixes itself.
probably something that will be fixed in one of the next iOS versions - really annoying though 😟
I' having the exact same issue. Some of my photos showing up in my photos are upside down. Other times when I facetime, the camera is upside down, too. Has to be a software issue, but so no mention of it in the details of the software update tonight 8.0.2. Very frustrating. My videos I take are also showing up sideways. I've been an iPhone user since the original, so this is not a user error. Also, like another poster mentioned, the top of the camera menu will show the flash, etc. upside down--but, the bottom menu where it says "photo, video, panorama, etc" will be normal. Come on, Apple--fix this!
Hello, I'm also having the same issues on my brand new iphone 6. What's Apple response to this issue ??
My wife's new iPhone 6 is having the same issue. Mine is fine. I don't think this is an iOS issue, I think it is a hardware issue. We facetime'ed earlier and we thought it was weird that her phone had to be upside down to have the image right side up. It wasn't until a half a day later that we realized it was a camera issue. I will be taking that phone back on Monday. Phone is only 24 hours old.
Mine is the same way. I thought at first that maybe it was a bad gyroscope but it comes and goes. If I notice the camera option icons are upside down on the top of the screen I've just had to start flipping my camera upside down so that I don't have to correct them one by one later.
I hope that it is just a software glitch that a future update can fix.
Same problem - upside photos and videos. A real pain, you can edit the photos and rotate them but it is a nuisance but I have no idea how to rotate the video as it does not have the same editing features.
It works fine for a while if I reboot the phone (hold the power and home button until it boots) - weird (on iOS 8.02)
I have appeared to have solved the issue (temporarily) with the below steps after a very troubling few days and hundreds of pictures to rotate.
Diagnostic steps to solve the problem:
Since discovering how to fix this issue I have noticed that it has come back again. Once I open my Compass app it also needs to be calibrated again. I wonder if this phone is prone to magnetic disturbance that disrupts the calibration. Applications like Camera + are not affected by the calibration issue however and will rotate normally.
Hopefully there is a permanent fix in the near future...
(notice the phone is in normal upright orientation but the UI and notifications are upside down)
It's a compass calibration issue. Try re-calibrating your compass and it should fix the issue. It did with me anyway.
I felt so helpless when I realized I could not rotate my video after I synced to iPhoto… memories with my son RUINED due to this update! @tim_cook@pschiller any ideas or suggestions on how we can rotate them to the correct orientation.
This is really a bad show Apple! Ruining memories!

Same problem here, the bottom of the app looks fine, but options at the top, like Flash and HDR are upside down. When this happens, pictures are taken upside down. Very annoying.
Rotating the phone 360 degrees sometimes solve the issue, but it comes back after a while.
