IPAD2 very slow after IOS 8 upgrade

After IOS 8 upgrade many aplications ( Safari, Facebook, etc) load very, very slow (comparing with 7 version) , with a significant delay of more than 10 seconds...

Who can I solve this problem? Any workaround?

PD

Apple should better test the software before delivering.

Thanks.

I find this extremely insulting. You act as if the people here (myself included) are too stupid to fix our problems.

Honestly, I think everyone who is "complaining" is just looking for answers. I honestly feel everyone has given it their best effort.

Tips have been given, and the people here have followed them. Some have seen improvements! That includes me... I have seen some improvement.

But just because we haven't seen everything magically fixed by a reset doesn't mean are idiots. There are problems that exist that are beyond our ability to correct with the steps given.

One that persists no matter what I try is the copy/paste issue. Please, help me resolve this. If I am not smart enough, then tell me how I might go about fixing it. Explain like I am 5 years old then.

Really, people are not complaining just to complain. We're doing our best to find any cure to the things that ail us

I still experience slow/jerky typing.
I still experience copy/paste not functioning correctly.

I still experience apps like Safari closing out.
I still have note problems.

Is it less frequent than before I applied processes given to me in this forum, or via the geniuses? YES.

Is it as good as the iPads ran on iOS 7x? Not even half as good.

But we keep trying anything we can. Only to be called "stupid".

I thought it was a good repartee to the user handle ... "RememberWhenAplWasNum1" ... :-) ...

If you want solutions, simply state a problem, and work the solutions which are suggested. If those "user suggestions" don't work ... keep in mind that the users are NOT Apple, and thus, you cannot "expect" solutions from them, but you can be pleasantly surprised when you get solutions that work. If you want to get "support" for products ... GO TO APPLE SUPPORT which is where they have it.

I've already shown how to "set things up" with your iPad to get the best results from Apple Support, so follow that. Others have followed it and have succeeded in their troubleshooting, or they have succeeded with Apple Support helping them. Several people have had their iPads replaced by Apple (as reported by users here) which indicates that they had HARDWARE PROBLEMS.

I guess that also means that just because users have corrupted files and messed up systems that have caused problems doesn't mean that we have to "RememberWhenAplWasNum1" ... it is Number 1 ... just like the fact that users are not stupid when they have problems show up on their iPad ... :-) ...

AND ... when things are beyond a user's experience and expertise, that's when you use Apple Support and the Apple Genius!

Really, people are not complaining just to complain. We're doing our best to find any cure to the things that ail us

I've seen some who seek no solution and simply state one complaint after another, state what other product they are going to buy elsewhere, state why Apple is "doing this to them" etc. and etc. In no way does that fit into the "Terms of Use" for this forum. Stating the problem for purposes of soliciting other users' solution is what this forum is about. And then, when one can find no solution from other users, that is NOT a "cue" to start a GRIPE-FEST because other users are NOT APPLE SUPPORT. You go to Apple Support!

You must be referring to some other poster, because you won't find a post of mine telling a user he is stupid.

My iPad 2 16GB wifi bought new Feb 2014. Only use it for web surfing and Yahoo mail. Ios8 caused problems, skipped 8.0.1 was out of town but quickly put 8.0.2 on upon return. Still had same problems as everyone, called Apple. Uploaded logs twice as escalation requested, nothing new except the tech had me turn off background app refresh, location services etc which helped a little with battery draining. All apps are the default except I downloaded iBooks ans 1 book. No personal data so I did the reset all and erase but no help. Saw other posts to try reload of iOS 8.0.2 thru iTunes so I did that and set up as a new iPad but still have battery draining quicker that 7.1 and Safari locks ups on the progress bar it may go about an inch then freeze. But the worst part is Yahoo mail and unable to display the mail although I see the inbox. Every so often it works fine, other times I close, force close and no help. When it locks up it may recover on its own in 5-10 minutes or less, but other times nothing. I still have an open case and will be calling the tech back in the morning but on the

aart call he recommended switch browsers to Puffin or Chrome so appears that Apple knows they broke our iPads but when will they fix this. I will never but another Apple product if this does not get resolved, but what really Torks me is somes of these replies say to setup your iPad And reinstall ios which I have decided be several times. With one book in iBooks, several bookmarks in Safari - no data - nada - zero - zilch and 12.1 of 12.9 GB free and being told to switch browsers I'd say that it's a Safari /Apple debacle that Apple needs to address instead of worrying about selling their new iPads.

BTW this iPad worked great since purchased in Feb -it''s not hardware or free space or apps it is the iOS update that Apple pushed out to us without warning.

Similar to my story..... I do have an update though. One of my clients was able to get a new iPad from Verizon today after battling this for near a month.
She reports that it came with iOS 7x on it and it is running fantastic. She only had a few apps, so she left it in its barebones stock setup (no updates) and just installed the apps and downloaded her iTunes songs. She is as happy as a clam.

So, maybe that could help someone else, if they bought an iPad from Verizon or AT&T, they could potentially keep visiting until they get another iPad, which does solve the problems 100%. Fortunately for her, the copy-and-paste works too, there's nothing I have found that addresses this with 8x.

This is NOT a rant - my earlier post was removed on that basis!

My experience echoes the frustration expressed by many others, here and elsewhere - unless we users can record our frustration, the scale of the problem will remain unknown.

For the record, I was a very enthusiastic proponent of Apple products and was especially impressed with Apple software. The iOS 8 has completely compromised my faith in Apple.

I do not have enough time to go fixing faulty software piece by piece - I pay the premium for Apple products because (previously at least) they were reliable and effective.

I hope that Apple can redeem themselves by releasing a more carefully tested update. And an apology would be nice.

The suggestion to do the factory reset and remove all my apps and settings seemed like a time consuming waste of time. I was so wrong. It fixed my iPad2 so it now performs as fast as day one. I had forgotten how fast and cool this device was. With it working again, getting it set back up took very little time. Before I started I made sure I had list of all the apps I needed and how I had them organized, as well as any login’s I needed.

I highly recommend doing the reset. It’s certainly better than the alternatives; either living with a piece of junk that barely works, or buying a new one.

Everyone please send feedback to Apple. This is only a forum. Helpful to see we're not alone in this mess, but Apple won't do anything unless we speak up. I plan to write daily until they respond in some way. I loved Apple and told everyone I adore my ipad2. Now it's basically a toy. Don't let me down, Apple. Support your product and (for now) loyal customers.

I decided to do a reset, erasing all content and settings. Following instructions I made a backup in iTunes and also in iCloud, to be on the safe side.

After restoring the iPad I notice the process has erased 6 Gb of data including ALL my iBooks. The iTunes nightmare strikes again.

This iOS 8 update has made my iPad2 completely useless to me and I am now a happy owner of a Samsung Galaxy TabPRO 12.2".

Problem solved...

Pete, at first thought it was my cell carriers problem so I sat on the phone for 52mins. We attempted some resets. And the first guy kindly erased my original phone number. Ugh! Then I went to a genius. They attempted a reset; then they offered to swap out my device for a cool $250. I did not do the swap cuz I just knew it wasn't my device. It had worked perfectly up till the update. So, in summary, I've tried multiple resets. To be honest, I'm not to much of a techie so trying some of this stuff on my own is worrisome. I trust Apple will fix this. I truly hope. Otherwise they'll lose me as a customer. Not everyone wants to shell out so much cash every few years. Who can these days, right?!
