IPAD2 very slow after IOS 8 upgrade

After IOS 8 upgrade many aplications ( Safari, Facebook, etc) load very, very slow (comparing with 7 version) , with a significant delay of more than 10 seconds...

Who can I solve this problem? Any workaround?

PD

Apple should better test the software before delivering.

Thanks.

Since upgrading to IOS8, FaceTime does not work as well anymore... My parents and I both have an iPad 2 so they could FaceTime with the grandkids (as so beautifully displayed in the Apple ads 🙂)... but that has become slightly frustrating. Internet speed checks also show large drop in achieved downloading speeds. Whilst they are still great on my Macbook. I hope this is not Apples way of getting us to upgrade to iPad air 2, even though it does look very nice. I understand after a while things get obsolete...but I have only had the iPad for 2.5 years.. Ps Same thing with my iPhone 4s.. I am downloading IOS8.1 at the moment, hopefully that will improve things.

as stated before, Star Traveler, please stop propagandising for apple!

Couldn't agree more.

Just upgraded to 8.1 on my iPad 2. I figured it couldn't hurt since my iPad has been crippled anyway. After upgrading, it seems a large majority of the performance issues are now gone. There's still a bit of lag here and there, but not nearly as much as there used to be (example: the gestures work, but it takes a second or two, but that's better than 10-20 seconds or not at all). Of course, I'm just one use case. I'd still suggest waiting for a few more confirmations before taking the plunge.

I tried lots of suggestions to improve terrible ios8 performance on my 3 year old iPad2, nothing worked UNTIL I followed the instructions in this article and did a hard reset. As by magic problem solved

This does take time, but well worth it. Not only did the performance improve dramatically, I also got a lot of storage back. I guess any computer after several inplace OS upgrades and three years of hard usage will appreciate a reinstall - my iPad2 most certainly did :-)

I have to do this several times a day since the upgrade to iOS 8. I hate it. I thought it was my iPad 2 just going out. I think it's 4 years old now, or close to it. It's only since the upgrade that I have this freezing problem and multiple crashes. Sometimes I have no sound at all; I just had to reboot the iPad to hear the music in Candy Crush (okay that might not be such a bad thing to lose) but still. Any chance of Apple releasing another update to circumvent the damage done by iOS 8?

I had the exact same issue with my iPad 2 using iOS 8.

Extremly slow, trouble with "double-tab" feature, which spent like 10 seconds showing the opened applications, some freezes with Safari, very very slow Wi-Fi connection.

It's way better with iOS 8.1. Still not fantastic but way, way better. I encourage every user having this kind of trouble with iOS 8.0, 8.0.1 or 8.0.2 to switch to iOS 8.1.

I don't know about cellular network issues though since I'm not using it on my iPad 2.

Hope this helps future readers.

Well, I decided to try the "Apple" way and restored my iPad2 to factory settings and then restored my apps from my laptop. It is working great, kind of ****** me off to have to do that every time they "upgrade" the iOS. The only issue that remains is that some of my pictures didn't make it back (no big deal because I backed it up to my laptop before, so I should be able to retrieve them. Good luck to everyone still struggling with this Apple "improvement"

I Agree it completely ***** to have to reinstall but at least it works. wouldn't it be nice and completely out of character to have apple admit that there is a problem like this and acknowledge that this is the only solution? Never, phones don't bend, phones don't drop calls, phones never need a reboot. The list goes on. they make great technology it's just not perfect.

FIRST ... Apple does not support or give any information for going backwards in the iOS. Then SECONDLY it's actually and "literally" impossible to do that now, since it has to be "signed" by Apple and Apple only did that for a few days after iOS 8.0. Once Apple quits signing it (the previous system file) it's impossible to even do the non-sanctioned procedure.

The bottom line is that no matter who was able to do it in the first few days, it's impossible now. And furthermore, if you were able to, you would find that a lot of your apps that have updated already, are only running on iOS 8. Therefore, if you "went backwards" you would find that many of your apps would NO LONGER WORK! In other words, you would have nightmare situation on your hands!

The only way out ... Is "forward".
