Why does Siri bluetooth connection in 2008 Toyota Prius with iOS 8 terminate outgoing call with message "call terminated by network" on Prius screen

Since installing iOS 8 , we can't get Siri to make outgoing calls with the Prius Bluetooth. Incoming calls work, but we get a message on the Prius screen, "call terminated by network" whenever we tell Siri to call out. She will recognize who we're calling, but as soon as the dialing starts, we get the call terminated message.

Any similar experience or ideas?

I''m now able to call hands free from my 2007 Prius with 8.2 but the day I upgraded to 8.2 I started getting error messages about the SIM. This is completely unrelated to the Prius issue but users on this thread should be aware of since nearly all of us will want to upgrade to 8.2 immediately.

I did not write down the error message verbatim but will do so on the next occurence. There is no way to reproduce this bug other than to wait until it happens. When it does I'm unable to make a cellular connection to the internet. Rebooting the phone solves the problem temporarily. There have been multiple occurences.

So far there have been no other postings with exactly the same symptoms so I will start a new thread.

Has anyone on this list tried iOS 8.3? I'm reluctant to tempt the fates.

iOS 8.2 solved my Prius connection problem but introduced a new one. The message "No Sim Card Installed" is displayed. After that you have to reboot your phone to get cell access"

This error may depend on who your cell access provider is. In my case it's Verizon.

If 8.3 solves the SIM problem without reintroducing the Prius connection problem that would be a good thing.

Seems like I am late to the party, but I just bought a 2011 Toyota Prius. My iPhone 6 Plus is running iOS 8.4. Upon connecting the phone to BT and activating Siri to make a call, the Prius alerts me "Call Disconnected" and simultaneously says "Audio Off" at the top of the screen. Although I have nothing to compare it to except these previous posts, it seems like iOS 8.4 breaks the 8.2 fix.

This problem was fixed in 8.3. After this bad experience I haven't upgraded my iPhone for two years. Since hands free dialing with Siri is the most important feature of my phone I haven’t dared upgrade since then.

I just upgraded my iPad to 10.1.1 and it seems to be working fine.

Has anyone with a 2007 or 2008 Prius upgraded their phone to 10.1.1 without any problems?

I'd simply try it except iOS upgrades are a one way ticket. If you have problems you can't go back.
