iPhone 6 Plus Volume

I recently purchased an iPhone 6 Plus and I noticed that the volume when on a call is very, very low. I turned the volume all the way up and there is still no improvement. When I had my iPhone 5S, I was able to actually turn down the volume because it was loud. Is anyone else having this problem?

Device: iPhone 6 Plus

Capacity: 128GB

Color: Black/Space Grey

*Phone volume is normal when on a call through Speakerphone or BT connection. Volume level problem is only experienced when using the ear piece.

I think I have the definitive answer to all the queries on iphone6 phone volume. I am not sure if someone has already found this. I read as many responses as I could and most folks got very close. The problem I noted was that the volume on the phone was very low but the volume on videos and music playback was normal. Looking at the handbook I noticed the iphone 6 speaker was on the bottom edge right hand side. When the phone is delivered, there is a plastic protective cover which surrounds the whole phone. Some folks cut this and leave the front face protected but the rest uncovered. Hence the bottom speaker is clear and sound is normal. However, the speaker for the phone is on the front face middle cetre near the top. The protective cover shrouds this and reduces the phone volume. The approved protective covers have a slot on the front face to expose the phone speaker. When the Apple initial issue cover is completely removed, the phone speaker is exposed and volumes return to normal. I did use all the tips provided earlier in this forum which helped to some extent, but I am sure 90% of the folks who buy the iphobe 6 new, are not aware of the above. Hope this helps. However, it leads me to my pet topic, why on earth don't Apple warn folks about these things !!

I had the same problem as everyone else here. I have spent hours reading the supposed solutions. Even the dumb ones like remove the plastic that is going over the earpiece on your phone??

I have tried every solution on here as well as talking to support twice and their solutions. Was just about to do a full restore and then book in to the Apple genius if that did not work when i thought maybe the speaker is clogged or dirty.

If you have a close look the speaker is very small with very fine mesh.If you constantly put you phone in your pocket. Pick it up just after having a bite of your burger. Splash some beer on it or not to mention ear wax which lets face it everyone has, its going to get a bit dirty.

I got some alcohol wipes and gave it a really good clean a few times and wouldn't you know it its brand new again.

Seriously give it a go it worked for me.

We had the same problem, low earpiece volume, and the fix was as simple as realizing that when the phone is not being used the 2 left side buttons control the ringer volume. When you are talking on the phone, the 2 side volume buttons control the earpiece volume. Simple as not pressing the bottom button when taking to someone and pressing the top button to increase volume. We were always trying to increase the volume when we were not connected to someone. Most of the other volume controls in settings control the volume of music and movies. Hope this helps as it fixed our phone.

Hilarious! My wife was complaining about very poor volume today when talking on her new iPhone 6s Plus. She unpacked it herself and, being as she is an iPhone user of a number of years, I assumed she had taken off all the packaging. When I had a look at it, she had left the clear plastic cover on the screen which, of course, covered the ear hole for sound to come out of. Once I removed it, all was well except for her red, embarrassed face. She won't live this down for a little while. :-)
