iPhone 6 Plus Volume

I recently purchased an iPhone 6 Plus and I noticed that the volume when on a call is very, very low. I turned the volume all the way up and there is still no improvement. When I had my iPhone 5S, I was able to actually turn down the volume because it was loud. Is anyone else having this problem?

Device: iPhone 6 Plus

Capacity: 128GB

Color: Black/Space Grey

*Phone volume is normal when on a call through Speakerphone or BT connection. Volume level problem is only experienced when using the ear piece.

Solved using the G.U.M tiny teeth cleaners [attached image]. Changing the Settings never helped, tried everything.

1. Spray some isopropyl alcohol onto the brush (no need to dry, the alcohol evaporates and will not harm the hardware)

2. Brush the iPhone's ear speaker grid (Call Volume Fix)

3. [Optional] Brush the bottom grids in the speaker holes

4. [Optional] Brush the mic grid in the left hole next to the earphone jack entry

5. [Optional] Brush the mic grid in the hole between you iPhone's camera and flash light.

I was having the same problem, I found a YouTube video: http://youtu.be/i2xEaOBvH68 Where the guy used a simple needle and lightly scraped the ear speaker. I did the same and blew the lint away (which wasn't much). I did it a few times, blowing into the speaker and then I made a call. Miraculously I could hear clearly! Not sure if this will work for everyone, but it has been a disaster trying to talk on my phone. If I didn't have my headphones I would have to put my phone on speaker to hear. Hopefully this helps someone!

Here's what the deal is, that the poster did not explain… On the iPhone 6s each area of volume is remembered differently… You have to be in an active telephone call in order to adjust the ear volume , which is different from the speaker volume… And is also different from the general volume… all controlled by the same side buttons .

so here's an easy thing to do… Call your own telephone number,... while reaching voicemail make sure that you're not on speakerphone and then adjust the side buttons up for ear volume. I had the same problem. I just did this, and the problem is fixed.

I have had the same issue and have researched a lot and found this is a fairly common problem. While I see different, "fixes" given, a lot of the problems have been around the use of the noise canceling setting. While I have tried every ,"fix" listed the issue still is occuring on my Iphone 6, and began when the latest IOS was downloaded on my phone. I suspect the problem is an audio phasing issue in the software. I would guess that the technology used to, "Noise cancel" is created by having ambient audio picked up by a mic in the phone, then through processing it is put out of phase and sent to the phones earphone speaker. In doing so the audio waves are canceling out each other, giving the effect of noise canceling and not being heard. When my issue began I not only noticed that my ear piece was much quieter but it sounded, "thin" or without a full frequency range as it normally would. This is a common side effect of audio being partially out of phase. Since all of my settings on my phone have been checked and the noise canceling is turned off I can only guess that the issue is a coding problem and not something I can fix myself, though I did reinstall the update twice just incase it installed improperly. I have noticed that for some people turning on and then off again the noise canceling has helped them, further convincing me that this may be the case. The only thing I can do is hope that the issue is known and is being corrected for the next IOS update. I will say that I have never had a problem with ambient noise during phone calls prior to this feature being added and would think that it could be removed from the next update without anyone noticing.

I bought a 6Plus a few days ago and the call and msg volume is too low, even at max on buttons, to hear properly. No, the plastic covers are not on. I have tried every proposed remedy on this site to no avail.. My phone software to 9.2.1 - I bought from AT&T store and they want to charge me a restocking fee for a defective phone ! I also found that when horizontal the display does not auto rotate. Tried all the fixes for that as well but looks like a bad gyro - also the subject of multiple posts. I asked the retail outlet that if I bring the phone in can I TRY a replacement (in this process you go from new to used certified - also BS IMO) to make sure it works properly for the two issues mentioned. They said it would have to be activated and I said fine, but I am not going to drive 100 miles + R/T to find out I have the same issues......This call volume thing seems to cross generations of Iphones so you would think they would get it right after ten years or so. Will post outcome but if it is not a software issue it is hard to expect a software update will fix it and Apple seems staunch in denying phone issues until the clamor gets too loud to ignore.

I have had my iPhone 6 for about 14 months and never had a problem. Yesterday I noticed I could hardly hear incoming or outgoing calls.

I have powered off my phone, and have reset it to factory and it didn't help. I contacted Apple and they suggestion I got was to send it in... pay a $29 express fee and they would send me a different phone. They would put a hold on my credit card for the full amount of the phone. Once the repair was made to my current phone they would release the hold and charge me for the cost of the repair. I think that sounds a little stupid. They could charge you for the full amount of they phone saying it was not fixable.

Has anyone figured out the problem? Looking at all the posts it is obvious that I am not the only one having this problem.
