iPhone 6 Plus Volume

I recently purchased an iPhone 6 Plus and I noticed that the volume when on a call is very, very low. I turned the volume all the way up and there is still no improvement. When I had my iPhone 5S, I was able to actually turn down the volume because it was loud. Is anyone else having this problem?

Device: iPhone 6 Plus

Capacity: 128GB

Color: Black/Space Grey

*Phone volume is normal when on a call through Speakerphone or BT connection. Volume level problem is only experienced when using the ear piece.

I also have experienced this.

My iphone 5 and 5s in call volume was excellent.

iphone 6, 6 plus, 6s, 6s plus in call volume was very low.

Even went to audiologist to make sure my hearing was normal (it is).

I switched to Samsung due to these issues.

Just purchased an iphone se, verizon, 64gb, space grey.

From the first 5 seconds of my first phone call, knew the in call volume is just like I remember it on the 5/5s (very loud).

perhaps a hardware issue due small earpiece apparatus/dynamic in 6, 6 plus, 6s, 6s plus due to thin body.

I was having the same problem and got this suggestion; settings>general>accessibility>Scroll down to phone noise cancellation and turn it off. Hope this helps! Mine is louder since doing this but not as loud as my iPhone 5.

UPDATE: IT DIDN'T WORK. Most of my calls are still low volume. I called Verizon and they wanted to troubleshoot my phone. But I don't have a landline so that didn't work. Apparently you can't be on the phone when troubleshooting, duh. I bought insurance so I am going to replace the phone. I hope the next one isn't the same but from all the posts, I have a feeling it is an issue with the 6plus. Bummer. I really like the phone except for this problem.

I faced same problem, took it to shop and they blindly said to replace speaker. But after a long googling, I scrapped a pin across the speaker mesh and cleaned with alcohol using ear buds .

Phone works great now, volume is loud and clear! This may due to sweat or spilled liquid which is blocking the small spores of the mesh . Please don't try direct pressurized air to the earpiece speaker which will damage diaphragm . Its very delicate . Also when u scrap with a pin , please don't apply pressure at all. Just scrap lightly and you will be able to see such a lot of dirt coming out from that small hole. Hope this will solve your problem .

I had mine for a year working correctly and one day the volume dropped almost to nothing. I tried someone's solution of the hearing aid setting and it helped a little, but noticed the greyed out Noise Cancellation toggle, so followed your advice and turned it back off. When I toggled the Noise Cancellation on, the volume was up louder than with the hearing aid setting.

I don't think it's the NC being on, I think there's just a bug in the software so turning everything off then back on fixes it (at least somewhat). They said now they are recommending a factory reset and/or loading the newest software version. In other words they have no idea why their phone with 75 different functions can't do the only one that is absolutely crucial. This will definitely be my last iPhone. The camera is MUCH worse than I was led to believe, it has lots of bugs (the auto-brightness feature never works), and there's nothing it does that sets itself apart from other smart phones.

Oh my gosh, this former valedictorian is thanking you right now. I feel so dumb. I have been doing the same thing (leaving the plastic on until I get screen protectors) and could not figure out why the sound was so quiet when I tried to talk on the phone holding the receiver to my ear. I had turned the volume up all the way and put the few calls I've made on it on speaker just to hear. I was trying to find something in settings. Nothing worked until I googled this. I cannot believe I didn't figure that out before I saw your post from 2014. LOL Thanks!
