iPhone 6 Plus Volume

I recently purchased an iPhone 6 Plus and I noticed that the volume when on a call is very, very low. I turned the volume all the way up and there is still no improvement. When I had my iPhone 5S, I was able to actually turn down the volume because it was loud. Is anyone else having this problem?

Device: iPhone 6 Plus

Capacity: 128GB

Color: Black/Space Grey

*Phone volume is normal when on a call through Speakerphone or BT connection. Volume level problem is only experienced when using the ear piece.

Mine is out of warranty and the price they are asking to replace is AED 400, if it is a common issue with lot of users, then it is supposed to be the manufacturing defect in Iphone 6 and the company should replace it for free.

No, it's not a common issue. If you read through this thread, you'll find that a number of people had dirt in their speakers or left the plastic on.

I Had this problem and it got progressively worse

i work in the cleaning industry and my phone is constantly subjected to muck and bust

this may sound crazy but if you get the smallest screwdriver and push it into the speaker holes you may find them to be blocked and stopping the sound from escaping as it should.

it worked for me so I reckon many people will have the same problem as the holes aren't protected from anything.

good luck and I hope this helps people.

I Have the iPhone 6 128GB

My phone started having this problem today where I could not hear anyone

that was calling me or that I was calling it was super quiet and muffled. I could

hear them just fine on speaker phone or with a head set so I quickly realized the

problem was with the actual earpiece on the phone. I had never had this problem

before so I was worried my phone had met its end...

After reading this site and what everyone was saying I decided to inspect my

phone closer and used my fingernail to gently rub it across the ear piece, (if you're

like me your phone goes everywhere, in your pocket, on the ground, tables, chairs

purses... You name it, your phone has probably been there.) as I gently scratched

at the ear piece I noticed dirt or grime was coming out of the speaker onto the phone

I decided to grab a dry q-tip and rub the ear piece vigorously to which end the q-tip

was covered in "NASTY" I then took a little rubbing alcohol and held my phone face

down (screen toward the ground) as to not get it in my phone and lightly got some on

the q-tip I then lightly rubbed the q-tip across the earpiece and to my surprise, my

phone works perfectly now, with out having to have it on hearing aid mode.

P.S. My boyfriends phone had also been doing this for months and he just dealt with it

and used speaker phone. I decided to do the same thing to his phone and it now

works perfectly as well!

Hope this helps!! Crossing my fingers for you!

Thanks! I was having the same problem as everyone else in this thread, and using the "hearing aid" mode trick didn't solve my problem (and isn't really a solution anyway, imho). But taking your advice, I used a Q-tip soaked in some alcohol, and scrubbed the mesh overlying the earpiece. I got some grey-brown residue on the head of the Q-tip, and after just a quick rubbing, I noticed an improvement in the volume of the earpiece. A few more scrubbings, and the earpiece was louder than I ever remember it being! Glad I found this thread!

Thanks to Hcryer321 for solving the issue with my 2-year-old iPhone 6! I didn't think I had a grime problem as scraping the earpiece grill did not produce any dirt. Per Hcryer321's post I tried rubbing it with alcohol on a swab for 20 seconds, which still produced no visible grime. But magically the earpiece got much louder, back to normal. I suspect the very fine earpiece grill was clogged with invisible oils in opposed to dirt and grime. In any case it worked!
