This update has kept downloading every second day the past week. I have a MacAir
This issue was covered in previous discussions in June 2013.
The update appears to be installed. I get the necessary installation bar, gray screen and the restart tone (twice).
MacBook Air (13-inch Mid 2011), OS X Mavericks (10.9.5)
I have this same problem on my retina iMac. I think I've tried to install it around 25 times. Maybe I will try installing it with my laptop next...
Found the solution:
open up 'Terminal' - copy and paste this line:
softwareupdate --ignore ThunderboltFirmwareUpdate1.2
hit return
Make sure you've got the 'Software Update' window open for dramatic disappearing effect.
