How do you turn off frequently visited sites in safari for iOS8

Hi

My do not track is already off, not green but i may have done that before i cleard my history etc. i'll do that again too. Meantime after just one visit to a previously visited site it's back. This is really annoying as it takes up half the screen even though there's only one entry.

I only cleared history ONE time. Haven't had to do a thing since. That was my whole point. No longer having Frequently Visited showing up all over the place and taking up that window or whatever it's called. 😎

Go to Safari settings and disable the tab that says "do not track." I positioned it to where it is not green and it doesn't seem to be tracking my sites anymore. I too cleared my history and website data. It would seem that position "on" where the button is green would indicate that you're turning it on to not be tracked, but I notices that it was the opposite. Hope that that helps.

While you can't turn it off, you can clear it and then keep it from happening again. (Well, I seemed to have figured out a way...hope it works for others.)

Go into Settings>Safari>Clear History and Website Data

That's all that I did and it worked on both my devices. Good luck.

I would say you're out of luck on that one. You might make a recommendation to Apple ...

Did you try my suggestion? I haven't had any issues since doing what I mentioned :

I thought it was a fluke at first but it's working on both devices.

I've done that, and it shows up again ... :-) ...

It's not there for a while, because you haven't built up a new "track record" ... but as soon as you do, it's there again.

Curious- what are your Safari settings?

FWIW, I set up my friends' iPad 3 days ago, matching my settings, and he's not having a problem, either.

If it's taking up half your screen, just click the "book icon" on the top left of the screen, and it will go away.

Hey, it's their forum to run, so they can run it any way they see fit.

The same would be true if you set up your own forum and paid for it. You could set up whatever rules you wanted.

Well, first of all, it's not me who is complaining about this action, as it's happening right now with Safari. So, when I say it still shows up (at the bottom of the Favorites), that's not a complaint from me ... just an observation and a statement of fact.

I'm actually not comcerned to change it ... :-) ...
