loose screen on the iPhone 6?

Does the top left corner of the iPhone 6 have a slight give when you press on it? Every other corner seems to be solid except for that one corner. I will avoid pressing on it but my concern is that it may become loose in the future.

can somebody confirm that this thread's issue cannot occur on 's' models ?

some technical explanation (not empirical one) based on the new type of screen-body mounting needed for 3Dtouch feature?

in other words: "there is no way to find this type of [loose-screen/clicking-sounds/...] on the iphone 6s or iphone 6s plus because ________"

I also had the same issue. I brought the phone from Apple re-seller in Bangalore/India. After 5 days I noticed the screen is moving when I press just above the sim slot. I took it to service center (iPlanet/Planetcare). They told that it's not a functional issue, so they can't do a replacement. After arguing so much and calling Apple customer care, they agreed to take the phone to have a check. Later they told they will give a replacement and the new one I got also had the same issue at left side of the screen. I figured it out as soon as they gave new phone and told I don't want this defective unit. They told they can't do anything, "this is what we got from apple warehouse". I understood that no point in talking to those people. I called apple customer care, they also told to take the phone and go home(whatever the case, they've replaced it). I never expected this from apple, selling low quality phone and being not at all responsible. Finally I sold the phone at the same day (just after 1 week since I purchased) itself with a loss of 16K bucks. I don't know about other coutries. But in India, apple and their customer care *****!!! I will never buy any apple product here in India.

I've scanned this thread. My impression is that there's more than one theme in the thread. Some people have a relatively simple defect -- a screen that's clearly loose. That may be related to dropping the phone or "bad luck" and it sounds straightforward. In some cases there may be loose screws at the base of the phone (these are very tiny screws, few people have the right tools to tighten them -- I'd let the Apple store do it).

More people, especially more recently, have a distinct "pop" sound with light pressure over a part of the display. It can be any part of the display. This sounds like either a design or manufacturing flaw or both. We'd need an expert in iPhone assembly to contribute. I can imagine a small structural deformity related to dropping the phone or imperceptible "pocket-bend" or a problem with screen bonding chemistry.

If you squeeze firmly (but not TOO hard) over the pop area the problem will often clear for a few days to a week (which sounds like a bonding issue). I suspect Apple techs are "fixing" some phones this way.

When an iPhone is replaced under warranty Apple typically distributes a refurbished phone, and it sounds like they often have the same issue. It may be that Apple still doesn't understand the problem and that they haven't tested refurbs for the defect. As of Nov 2015 I don't think Apple has distributed a fix to service centers.

The fix may be expensive. It may require replacement of the screen/touch sensor, or frame replacement or even both. From my experience with similar defects on iMacs once Apple understands the problem they will fix it under warranty but if the repair is costly they may or may not do a post-warranty repair program. (Long discussion threads seem to help, contrary to what's often said here I think Apple does monitor long threads).

I'm going to take my phone to a local Apple store for review. If they don't know the cause (or are not authorized to discuss it) I'll hold onto my phone -- but I'll keep a record of the visit so I have proof the problem occurred under warranty.

you have this issue with a 6s ?? ...hmm..

i thought 6s cannot have this "clicking-issue" because of the new type of [screen]+[body] assembling needed for 3Dtouch feature..

if this will happen to a lot of 6s phones, how would be "compatible" with the pressure-sensitive display with haptic feedback ?

maybe it is not a bug it is a feature 😝 you press the screen --> simultaneously feel the haptic feedback AND the clicking issue

I am incredibly frustrated with this issue, and not entirely happy with how Apple has handled it up to this point.

My original iPhone 6+ I had for about 6 months and the clicking started, a couple months before my warranty expired I took it in for service and at this time the represenative told me I would have to leave my phone with them for 1.5 to 2 hours for them to replace the screen, I wasn't happy with this answer and that was all they could do to help me at the time. I wanted my device replaced, no need for me to stand around a mall I have no intrest at being in for the better part of 2 hours.

I called Apple support and long story short they sent me back to the store with only a 45 minute screen replacement.

A month later the dreaded clicking came back, this time out of my warrant. I did have the 90-days parts and replacement warranty. I called my guy at Apple and he got me another appointment, for them to again, replace my screen.

Went to this appoitment, had my screen replaced. Not even a week later and it is happening again, called my guy at Apple - he promised a product replacement this time and would note it in my file since I have an out of warranty device.

Got to Apple Store last night for appointment. No notes where in my file to reflect a Customer Satisfaction device replacement - so I had to re-explain all my problems, show them that I've been working on this same issue since before warranty expired and then they decided they would replace the device.

This is part my fault too, I guess, I should have inspected the device before leaving the store. I just didnt expect to recieve a 'loose screen' iPhone 6+ from Apple's refurbished devices, but low and behold I did. This ones screen clicking at the top of the device is so much worse than my original iPhone 6+.

I e-mailed my guy at Apple last night, I'm so incredibly frustrated at this point. Going to the Apple Store is a huge inconvience for me, the closest one to my home is 45 minutes, I hate the mall and the amount of time I've had to put into fixing this problem is flat out ridiclious. Hopefully I will hear something from Apple today, and just sending me to a store, again, is REALLY going to make me mad. I've dealt with this issue as an adult the entire time now, but now im getting fed up with being nice about it. You shouldn't expirence this same problem over and over on a device that cost almost $1000!

I have had this problem with three phones. First, Iphone 5S. I brought back to Apple and they gave me a new 5S. But then it happened again. So I assumed it had to be something I was doing. I was certain that steam from the shower (I used to leave on a shelf in the bathroom) caused some glue separation or something. But I now have an iphone 6 and the problem is there again. I can't imagine I always get the defective units. So it must be something I am doing, but just can't figure out what.

This should be a recall by now from Apple. My iPhone 6 screen has been loose from day one at the bottom right. It drives me mad, paying top dollar for a phone and having to deal with this cheap excuse. I took it to the apple store right after I purchased it, and the attendant discouraged me from pursuing the issue any further saying that this was within normal operation of the device. I then walked around in the store, and noticed that about 90% of the phones had this same issue... so I went home. It really hasn't gotten any worse, or better, and it gives me something to do while I wait somewhere, click, click, click, click... OK we are ready to see you now... click, click.

In my case I have a simple solution, I just hand it down to one of my kids, and be more careful on my next purchase from Apple. You can just buy it, and take it home anymore, you need to check it out first! Is Apple signaling a turn on their quality? OMG stockholders, take this into consideration on your long term plans!

Hi everyone,

I have an Iphone 6 plus 64Gb with warranty. Problem is that the screen is clicking on the top. The glue is coming lose. And also sometimes the front camera is moisty on the inside. My question is... Can you DEMAND a new phone at apple, because I don't want them to repair it? It's a 869 euro phone it has to be perfect.

Kind regards Maxime
