This is my experience, It maybe a bit boring, but i am sharing my experience over 3 different iphones and over a period of over 4months. I pay attention to even the most minute issues.
Case 1:Original iphone
Issue 1: I purchased an iphone 6 when it was launched and discovered the clicking and popping of screen on the right corner within 2 weeks. It would randomly come and go when the phone temperature changed and I was not much bothered initially
.
Issue 2: I bought an STM cover the day I bought my phone and it was really rigid but i stopped using it because whenever i removed it, it would stress the phone a lot and whichever corner of the lower sides i removed 1st ,would give a click if i pressed it just after removing, but this was a 1 time click, meaning that the screen was not loose and it was just a flexing a bit. The sound was a gentle tick rather than a click or pop and the screen usually stayed in its place. I started using a silicon cover instead.
Finally one day, when i was playing a heavy game, the phone made a tick audible even meters away, i took it to the service centre, and they refused a replacement without attempting a repair, I called the apple india headquarters and they said let them open it and look into the issue. The service guy discovered that the screen was not sitting properly and thus was declared defective. They replaced my phone with a new one that came in a small sealed box.
Case 2:The 1st replacement
The phone looked normal and I could see a speck of dust/debri inside camera, but stuck in a place away from the lens, and was working absoletely fine until one day when the touch stopped responding. It was again replaced. No click no pops for over a month.
Case3:The 2nd replacement
The phone again looked normal, except 2 barely visible, dust particle sized scratch on the apple logo. I use the normal silicon cover and it was fine until last week when I could feel that sometimes the top left depressed. It does not click like the 1st defective iphone but behaves exactly like how the screen would tick when the cover was taken off the 1st iphone. Infact i noticed it once when i removed the silicon cover. Again, its a one time click, if i press it again, nothing happens, no click nor depression. But if i apply lateral stress on the corner, by which i mean pressing the metal rim, rather than the screen(something similar to removing a cover), just a gentle touch, i can recreate the depression. The force required is so less, it happened everytime i remove the silicon cover which barelly needs and force. I usually remove the silicon cover from the top left corner, and it seems repeatitive removal has flexed the metal in this region.
This is not a very big issue, but the fact that it is there annoys me a lot. All this has happened when I never even it bumped it once, i barely even keep it on a table đ Wondering what will happen if it drops or if one fine morning i find it under my belly.
Verdict: These phone do lack quality, even though they a premium made, they loose precision since they are really fragile...
I will go to the service centre again and ask the service boy to just adjust the the 2 screws on the bottom and nothing more. These phones are really unpredictable when it comes to reliability unlike the predecessor 5s,
Any suggestions?
Thanks
