Iphone 5s battery drain IOS 8

Just thought that I would add my two cents ... I am experiencing the same battery drain issues as the rest of you. This is the first time I have experienced so much difficulty with an iOS update. The battery drain is actually the least of my concerns right now since I can't open some apps, download from the App Store/iTunes, or go two minutes without iCloud asking for my password. Still, the battery drain is an issue that needs to be solved. Otherwise, there may be a mass exodus of Apple users.

I am having the same problem on my Iphone 5....IOS 8.0.2 is draining my battery. I have done EVERYTHING that has been suggested by multiple sites. I've even wiped my phone clean and did a fresh install with no back up...battery is not lasting all day like it did on IOS 7. I used to charge my phone every other day...now its every 3-4 hrs that it needs a full charge! Also happening on my Ipad 4!!! its not my phone or my ipad...IOS 8.0.2 needs to be updated to fix these problems!

I have the same problem, both when i use the phone ,but also in standby mode, if I leave the phone with 50% battery when i go to bed, then the phone has run out of battery the next morning.

The phone has be come useless after the ios 8 upgrade.

I will have to find a way to downgrade online.....

I always accepted the limited battery life of my i-phone5s...but since downloading the IOS8 it has become a nightmare. You depend on your phone for emergencies when out and about, and the battery just drains at an unacceptable amount. I have followed the numerous lists of "things to change" in order to save battery life. Maybe I should remove everything and just use it as a phone. I am very frustrated and can't understand why the geniuses at apple created such a new system that works worse than the old one. Having a phone that does more things doesn't help if the battery is dead!!!! When is Apple going to fix this problem. I am seriously considering the Samsung!😠

Why Apple is not saying anything about this big issue??

I am using my iphone 5 just as paperweight, because as soon as I use anything the battery drains dramatically

my data are off

location is off

wifi is off

brightness is at the minimum

all the apps are closed

is there any other way to use it, but paperweight?

I am so disappointed!!

most of us need the iphone for working, I cannot go out without being sure that I can recharge it in 2 hours!!

I want my battery and my phone back!

then they do not seem to be properly informed. they should inform themselves better or just remove their fan-glasses! still there are battery problems!

Ditto. Upgraded 2 days ago. Lucky now if my battery lasts 5 hours.

Having the same issues re battery. I'm now having to plug my iPhone 5 in when I'm in the car plus carry an adaptor or emergency battery charger around with me all day, as if I don't plug in at least twice a day the phone won't make it though 24 hours. Before iOS8 it would last all day. This is a disaster.

Same issue here, IPhone 5s 16GB lasting less than 3hours and another Iphone 5 32GB lasting less than 12 hours.

Before IOS 8 all was perfect !

Apple, could you please use your brain and leave us to choose at least between the last 2 IOS updates ?

My wife has the same iphone as mine with the old IOS 6, she never updated, I really miss Steve, her phone is perfect, much better than mine (same phone as mine with a different IOS! how I miss that keyboard, much better at least for me)

Anyway, please do something, this is ridiculous, 700usd in a phone that doesn't serve for anything else because of a software update ?

Seems the issue I had with HTC in the past, has apple become an HTC or a Samsung ? if so, please low the iphone price to be consistent, seems nobody tested anything and takes a year to launch something.

It looks like most of my battery is used by background activities in calender, contacts, and notes ( all Apple apps :-().

I have disabled location services, sow now I get around 18 - 20 hours, but that might also be caused by much less use of the phone because I am worried that I will run out of battery at any moment.

The location icon was disabled after the update? I am pretty sure that I had it enabled in before the update.

I had the same problem (and posted earlier). I ended up ringing Apple support, and they have remarkably solved my problem of the battery draining.

They solved my problem by identifying that I had the notifications ON for all my apps. This is a querk of V8. After turning them all to OFF, my battery is now back to normal life. YAY!!

this does not work for me...I've double checked my notifications and other settings...still draining my battery....IOS 8 was made for iphone 6 and not working well on iphone 5!!
