Turning off Bluetooth speaker, triggers iTunes App to open

Whenever powering off my Bose Soundlink Mini speaker (from the speaker itself), it will trigger iTunes to automatically open. Is there a fix for this? Has anyone else had this issue? I tried a suggested solution from online by doing the following: but unfortunately, it also renders the iTunes app useless, and disables it completely. Is this a bug, or is there a preference somewhere to stop this behavior?

Show package contents on iTunes.app. Inside the MacOS folder there is a unix script called iTunes, I renamed it iTunesclosed. Also renamed ituneshelper.app to ituneshelpdisabled.app

I have the Bose Soundlink Mini as well and this issue started happening after I upgraded from Mavericks to Yosemite. I usually leave iTunes open, so whenever the speaker powers off (automatically, or I manually turn it off), iTunes will automatically play a song. It will start iTunes if it's not running. It also wakes the Mac from sleep if it's in that state. Very frustrating! (Not to mention the separate issue of audio lag from the BT speaker after upgrading to Yosemite)

Has Apple addressed this yet? Any solutions? I have the exact same problem - turn off bose, itunes opens.

Very frustrating, and also doesn't make sense.

And as with most new annoying little things like this, it starting happening when Apple decided we needed to update again.

I've also asked a "Genius" at an Apple store about this. His reply was, "well that's quirky, have you tried searching online?" So, no help at the store.

Same. iTunes will open if it's closed but won't play music. If iTunes is open when the speaker is turned off, then the music starts playing back to my macbook pro speakers. This is so annoying!

I did that show package contents thing and all it did was prevent iTunes from opening when I tried to open it myself.

Apple can we please get a response??

I thought it was me going crazy and blaming my wife for doing something to make my macbook pro start playing music. I realized today that my bose soundlink mini triggers my itunes when it shuts off... and it is annoying... i like all kinds of music, and ABBA is the first album...therefore Dancing Queen starts blaring out of the speakers...lol if anyone knows how to fix this let me know...thanks!!!!!

This is getting increasingly annoying.

It usually takes turning my speaker off and on a few times now (which means I have to keep quitting itunes) before my bose can pick up any sound that is not coming from itunes.

Please fix this Apple!

Perhaps with one of your many updates. We don't need any new features, just fix what you break. Thank you.
