iPod Sync fails with Mazda 6 after upgrade to iOS 8

After upgrading my iPhone 4 from an iOS 7.x version to iOS 8 I can no longer attach my iPhone 4S to my Mazda's multimedia system. Well that's'so not quite true. I can attach but I get an "iPod Sync error" on the USB/iPod tab in my multimedia system. The same connection with iOS 7 worked without any issues. I was able to retrieve my songs and play them in my Mazda's multimedia player in the USB/iPod tab.

I think this has to do with the iOS upgrade. I have shutdown the phone with HOME and POWER Button, but no difference.

(Oh and just in case you're wondering, I had to write this discussion with white letters on a white background in Apple Safari on iPad with iOS8, so please excuse the typing errors. I then had to switch to Google Chrome to finish off the question because the communities page wasn't loading correctly on my iPad with Safari which has been upgraded to iOS8.)

I am really looking forward to a fixed version of iOS8 so that I can again play my songs in iPod mode while loading my iPhone via the USB cable in my Mazda 6 Revolution.

On a side note: I do not have any Bluetooth issues as others have encountered. My Mazda can play songs via Bluetooth and take calls. No issues here.

I'm in same boat with my 2014 Mazda6 with Nav. Getting iPod Read Error which coincides with IOS8 upgrade and am currently on 8.1.1 on 2 4s phones, having previously swapped cables etc. Car went for Main dealer service yesterday (4 Dec'14) and their devices worked OK - presumably still on an older OS. Apparently my infotainment system is on the latest Mazda release, so Mazda have obviously not released an IOS8 fix yet.

Hey Everyone! You should try upgrading to iOS 8.1.2, the newest release for iOS, and then reset your network settings (Settings>>>General>>>Reset>>>Reset Network Settings) Then, in your car, remove your iPhone(s) from your car's bluetooth pairing bank. Then, re-pair your iPhone with the car, and the issue should resolve. I've had a lot of success with this! Hope this helps! If you contact apple support, help is there to resolve the issue.

Having the same problem with my iPhone 6 running iOS 8.1.2 and my 2015 Mazda6. The only thing plugging my phone in will do is charge it which is a shame because sound quality is so much better via USB instead of Bluetooth. I don't believe that this is an iPhone error as my phone works just fine plugged into my wife's 2013 Altima. If anyone finds a solution, please share. When I take my car in for it's 5k mile service I will ask Mazda and report back.

Update: I have only have 4 albums on my iPhone as I use Spotify primarily. Music library size shouldn't be an issue and I think my case clearly rules that out. Just to clarify, neither iTunes nor Spotify works.

UPDATE.

So, I turned in my Black 2015 Mazda 6 and upgraded to a White 2015 Mazda 6 hoping that they fixed the software issue...

NO DICE.

So I tried my trusty solution to get my iphone 6 plus to recognize and let me control my itunes via the car stereo, and guess what...

IT WORKED!!!

With that being said, I have tried my solution on 3 other cars that are mazda and ALL HAVE WORKED AND NOT HAVING TO USE BLUETOOTH.

And you guessed it, APPLE NOR MAZDA WANT TO KNOW HOW I DID IT.

So I will keep doing what I am doing, and if they want to talk, they know where they can find me.

Good Luck to ALL of You struggling, I am not being a jerk by not sharing my solution, but I believe you should recognized and rewarded for work that someone else has clearly dropped the ball on.
