iPhone 6 screen easily scratched?

Have been taking EXTREMELY good care of my 6+, but the corners already have visible scratches. Anyone else experiencing this?

Ya know, thats what bothers me. I have a very expensive watch with sapphire glass and ive literally run it up against concrete and not a scratch on it. Either were being fed BS or Apple is being ripped off.

iPhone is not clad in Sapphire. It was rumored it would be, but they confirmed the glass is ion infused Gorilla glass. Thus far on my iPhone 6, there are no scratches.

After only two days, my iphone 6 plus shows several surface scratches and one deep scratch. I take very good of my phones, I've had Samsung phones without screen protectors not even show the slightest scratches. Whatever screen material Apple is using, it is inferior to other out there. I'm told by my retailer, ATT that there is nothing they can do and it will affect my trade-in value in 12 months.

My iPhone 6 came out of the box new with a hairline scratch right across the top of the screen almost 3/4 away across that can been seen under indoor lighting.

Disappointed is a understatement!!! as i know I can't prove it was like this out of the box so I'm stuck with it, as Apple won't replace it because it classed as cosmetic damage so ever time i look at my iPhone 6 and see that scratch it really bugs me .

My 5S screen and body for that matter was perfect didn't have a single scratch or mark on it, as i'm very careful with my phones I wish i kept hold of my 5S now,but i sold it before the iPhone 6 arrived 😟.

I'm at that point now of really considering selling off the iPhone 6 because of this & moving to Android because I'm that disappointed with Apple's QC has gone right down hill, never in all my years of buying iPhone's have i ever come across a scratched screen out of the box. 😟

All of this discovered on my day 4 with the new iPhone.

If this was a result of a single accident, how would you explain the scratches developing around all four corners?

Did I put it in my pocket? Yes.

Did I put it in my pocket with anything else such as keys or coins? No. Admittedly, maybe once with my Earpods with the end plugged into the phone.

Did I drop it? Never.

Did I rub it against a rough surface or subject it to my own torture test? H*ell no.

Does my three-year-old iPhone 4 which was used without screen protector suffer anything similar to this? Absolutely no.

Since it doesn't seem to be everyone complaining about this issue, my hypothesis is that there were several batches of glasses that went through the wrong process. What do you think?

This is a very good point. if these scratches are a result of abuse, why are they only at the corners?

I took my iPhone 6 in to my local Apple Store yesterday. The guy who helped me was nice enough, but pushed back very hard on replacing the phone. He would not do it for any reason and had no answers or suggestions. He mentioned that maybe I have longer finger nails... I'm a guy. I don't have long finger nails. And even if I did, how would keratin be able to scratch Gorilla Glass? And only at the CORNERS, where I never touch? It was a frustrating experience.

I have owned every iPhone since 2007. I own two MacBook Pro's, two Apple TV's, an iMac, a new Mac Pro, two iPads, a Thunderbolt Display. And this is how Apple wants to deal with its own manufacturing issues? Shame on you, Apple. I've spent over $10,000 with you, and you treat me like an idiot in your store.

I DO NOT have to use Apple products. And if I'm going to transition away, this will be where it starts.

I'm on my third 6 plus. The first one had a buzz in the ear piece. The second one had a single hairline scratch and a circular region of non-conformity in the oleophobic coating. Every time your skin oils would come across the region, you could see the circle. Now, on my third unit, which I inspected closely right out of the box, I have two hairline scratches after 3-4 days of use. I've been EXTREMELY careful with the phone, it rides in my pocket only momentarily by itself. If I'm waliking for any period of time, I'm holding it in my hand by the edges to protect against scratches. Like everyone else, i've never ran screen protectors on my 3G, 4, and 5 because they're ugly and detract from the user experience. I'm tired of exchanging phones and will probably have to go with a glass screen protector, which I know i'll hate. *****.

As I see it the design of the new iPhone will cause scratches. Even gorilla glass gets small scratches its not as hard as scratch resistant say as a sapphire watch face. Older iPhones had a flat screen and with the 5 and 5S a small chamfered edge, nothing to rub on really just flat glass. The new screen has glass curving around towards the body, so the corners are going to get scuffed every time you take it in and out pockets as they are exposed to wear and tear, and since the top of the screen is more exposed now too, that will get scuffed more easily as its not flush with the phones metal body like previous phones. Well that's how I see it, all well and good having the nice curved look but its going to get scuffed without a screen protector probably.

Hi,

I just finally found a iphone 6 believe or not at Target could not find a iphone 6 plus. Came very close to finding one at the apple store it show it was online and got there a few minutes after they open it was gone. ATT can't even keep them in stock iphone 6 are 3-4 weeks wait and iphone 6 plus are 2 to 2 half months wait. No way was going to wait that long so decided to go with the iphone 6 usually they only carry the 16 gb in both the iphone 6 and plus. But when I called they told me they had a gold att iphone 6 in 64 gb which is extremely rare. Either you can find the phone in 16gb or 128 gb it is like 64 gb seems to be hardest to find. Luckily I was able to get it and the others had only a choice of 16 gb. I love the gold its awesome yea it sad that it needs to be covered up by otter box defender but I rather have it protected then to be damaged or scratched. I actually bought my iphone 6 otter box for $50 at best buy they only had a choice of all black and pink and white combo with a black clip. Now they should of made the clip white. My old iphone 5 case had pink case with white clip but it doesn't fit on my iphone 6 case. But anyways I swear by otter box defender has been the best thing I ever bought for any of my iphones. If you are going to spend all this money on a iphone 6 or plus make sure you don't buy a cheaper version or just buy a bumper or case that goes around the back and side of it. You need to protect that screen. The otter box defender has saved my phone when it went flying off the treadmill or from the vibration of the elliptical or stairmaster when I had my iphone 5 believe it happen more than once and never had any damage to my iphone 5. I had it in its case for 2 yrs not one scratch on it. And those other screen proctectors are a real pain to get them on without the bubbles is impossible to pay all that money for them and when they get bubbles in them just seems to be issue. One time I did purchase one of them and paid best buy to apply it they put one and they had to take it off and re apply another one because of all the bubbles believe it was when I pick up my pre order with the iphone 5 but I was smart this time around I went to best buy before picking up my iphone 6 to get my otter box defender. Sad though that the iphone 6 plus are still not available for them. I am going to watch for amazon to have them or order straight from otter box for another back up of otter box defender because I want to have a purple one but also like to change the colors as you can do 2 different colors. The iphone 6 otter box otter box defender case is slimmer and not so thick and bulky as the iphone 5 was. I have had no issues with my iphone 6 otter box defender even a thinner piece of clear plastic that goes over the finger scanner. i have not issues with the screen when using the touch screen thru the screen protector that is already in the case. The otter box defender comes in 3 parts so it is like have triple protection and the clip does break so be careful with that happen to me a few times with my iphone 5 due to it flying off the treadmill but depending where it breaks or cracks little super glue works wonders but if that didnt' work then I would purchase extra case of just the clip. The clip also can be change by turning it and it becomes a stand to be able to watch your videos. So there are lots of good pros on how well iphone 6 otter box defender works the cons are the clip breaks easily and not enough colors or designs. But I do like the feel of them and how it isn't able to slip out of your hand so easily. yea it make it feel heavier than without it but I believe in protecting my expensive investment. Well hope I able to convince all iphone 6 or plus users to get a otter box defender they are awesome but hope they come out with iphone 6 plus soon so they don't have this issue with the scratch screens. Good luck to you all
