iPhone 6 screen easily scratched?
Have been taking EXTREMELY good care of my 6+, but the corners already have visible scratches. Anyone else experiencing this?

If you are unlucky then what would that make me my iPhone 6 plus has never seen the inside of a pocket, never saw cleaning without a case on and went straight from a sealed Apple box that was then opened and inspected by myself and a rep from apple to a screen protector and case and yet still managed a scratch
Omar:
Thanks for contacting AppleCare chat support. How can I help you?
*******:
I have just had some issues with two very faint hairline scratches on my iphone 6 screen. I was hoping to inquire how I should go about resolving this?
Omar:
You’d like to know how to go about getting that screen repaired correct?
*******:
Yes. Its unsual because I have tried testing the durability of the screen with a set of car keys and other sharp objects and no scratches appear. However I think that these arent actually scratching the glass but the outer area surface of the glass. I believe others have reported about this issue as well. I just wanted to clarify with a specialist before I spend time driving to a store.
Omar:
I’ll be happy to provide you with the information you need to get that resolved *******. I had a scratch on my last phone and could not wait for the upgrade due to that. There are a couple options to get your screen repaired. You could go to your local Apple Retail Store and have it done there. The other option is to mail in your device and have us repair it at our facility. A slightly different option is for us to mail you a replacement device first with a security deposit for the value of the phone and a $29 express shipping fee. The cost of the screen replacement is $129 plus tax
*******:
I strongly believe this isn't consumer error. Is there any way for me to get the screen tested or examined?
Omar:
You can definitely have it looked at at the Apple Retail Store.
*******:
Ok I guess that is the route I will have to go. I noticed other people had success on the apple forums via the chat regarding this identical issue. But if you think I should take it in I will go that route.
Omar:
We are unable to test any hardware over chat. If you actually want some one to look at your device, the Apple Retail Store is the way to go. I don’t know how or if they’ll test it but they can definitely inspect it.
*******:
is there any way you can email me record of our correspondence?
Omar:
I’ll be happy to send you a copy of this chat. Can you please verify the email address you want this sent to?
*******:

*******:
thanks I appreciate your time with this
Omar:
Anytime. Setting all that up for you.
Omar:
Also, may I have the zip code in your area so I can make you an appointment?
*******::
I can set it up - no worries Im not sure of my schedule.
Omar:
This is your case number: *********
Omar:
You can schedule that appointment at your convenience by going to apple.com/retail.
*******:
Alright sounds good. thank you.
Omar:
You’re welcome ***** Have a good one.
Is there a chance that the space gray phones are more prone to scratches? I have a 6 in gold and it's not scratched. I do baby it like you would not believe, but it seems to me like everybody else is babying their phones, and their screens are getting scratched anyways.
My gold iPhone 6 has scratched. My replacement hasn't as much, but has a couple extremely faint ones. I have yet to replace my second iPhone as they aren't visible during use.
I have also an iPhone 6 Plus with hairline scratches. A very long one in the middle of the screen and several scratches in the top left corner. I have the phone for a couple of weeks and it replaces the iPhone 5S that replaced the iPhone 5 and my iPhone 4S. I still have the other phones as my wife and kids are using them and none of the other iPhones have these scratches. I have put the iPhone 6 Plus in my pocket the same I did with my other phones, I do not put anything else in my pocket. My model is the iPhone 6 Plus 128GB Spacegray. This unit was purchased at a retailer in Belgium.
What the heck is the point of using Gorilla Glass and in the future Sapphire Glass if they are going to put a non-scratch resistant oleophobic coating on it? I am going to send my 990 euro phone back to Apple because this is imho unacceptable.
I know a lot of people have filled out that Google Docs form that's been going around. However, Apple doesn't look at that. I suggest that everyone also send Apple Feedback regarding the iPhone's susceptibility to scratches: http://www.apple.com/feedback/
iphone 6 plus, bought 6 days ago, very careful use... scratched already! (3 hairline but one small deep in the middle of the screen). No scratches at all 3 hours ago when i last wiped the screen. Been in the house all day, haven't used it much except for putting in in my empty jeans pocket once (no metal near it) and it is now scratched. My 4s lasted many years without damage. Will be at the apple store to complain tomorrow.
I have tried testing the durability of the screen with a set of car keys and other sharp objects and no scratches appear.
You intentionally tried to scratch the screen of your iPhone?
"I have used some samples in local stores and played a little with 6's that my colleagues have got recently and all had small hairy scratches...."
I just did the same thing at a NorCal Apple store. All of the phones have small scratches. They are more visible on the space gray phones. And they have to be at the right angle, but definitely there. And these are phones that have never been in a pocket or purse.
I see that most complaints come from Black and 64GB.....
Could you post how many 64's were white?
Thank you....

But they are phones that have been handled by hundreds of people, since they are display models.
Put a screen protector on your iPhone. Issue resolved.
Count me in as one of the thousands of people now reporting a scratched iphone 6. I have the white 128gb iphone 6, after 3 days I noticed hairline scratches on the screen. Now being 2 weeks later there is somewhere in the realm of 10-12 scratches. I had both an iphone 4 and iphone 5 both of them lasting me the full 2 years and went through ****. Never once did either one get scratched for a full 4 years of having the phone. Now after having the iphone 6 with a case and babying it I have scratches all over the device. I called support and was able to speak to a manager and even reffered him to this thread. He told me to go to an apple store and have it checked out. If I'm not satisfied with the result of their support he gave me his personal line and case number and said to call him for a resolution personally. To top things off my wife has an iphone 6 as well, she's much rougher on hers (puts it in her purse, etc.) and has no issues with scratching.
This is clearly not consumer error and something that is faulty on the quality of the phone. If apple doesn't make this right with me I can assure you this will be the last apple product I buy. I cannot justify having a $1000 phone that has quality issues.
But they are phones that have been handled by hundreds of people, since they are display models.
Put a screen protector on your iPhone. Issue resolved.
What is the point of selling smartphones for 1000 USD/EUR, spending a whole bunch of money on R&D for building scratch resistant screens if you are going to put an non-scratch resistant oleophobic coating and requiring your customers to spent 8 USD on a real ugly screen protecter that does not even cover the entire screen, because as you know the screen on the iPhone 6 is not flat anymore.
I am confused as to why the high ranking forum members are pro apple to the point of suggesting either:
1> it is user error or worse still users are lying about their issues
2> ridiculous solutions like using a screen protector.
How about accepting there is an issue, and then dealing with the problem instead of skirting round it please.
So the fact that they are handled by people makes them scratch? So people are scratching them by simply using them? Do you see the problem with the logic here? The phones should not be so fragile that they scratch due to basic use with little to no abuse. It's not like humans have fingers made of sand paper.
