iPhone 6 screen easily scratched?

6 plus owned for 3 weeks, 3 scratches in center of the screen. I take very good care of this phone & even have a flip case to cover the screen, and No the stitching of the case doesn't line up with the scratches. Had my iPhone 4 for 2 years & tossed it around like a baseball with no issues If this is 3 weeks what will this phone look like in 1 year?

I believe Apple is going backwards with the iPhone. Too many things about this phone have become just annoying with No improvement.

Theres much more but what's the point? You think Apple reads this stuff? I'd return this phone but hey too late, I'll lose money now. Signed to a 2 year contract now. We can wait for iOS updates which downgrade the phone even more all while taking up more gigabyte space.

i agree to this. I hate putting a scratch guard cause it ruins the fun of the crisp display, and i notice it more when i am high. Used my previous iphone5 without a guard and there were no scratches. This one has a big scratch from my cigarette lighter.

I would try phoning Apple, some people have had favourable responses even when outside the 14 day return period. If you get somebody unreasonable try again, and then if/ when you finally get an exchange plonk a screen protector on it asap. It won't resolve some of your issues but at least it will protect the resale value. Also who knows, as this issue seems to be a lottery you might get a replacement with a good, much more scratch resistant screen.

Interesting article. If they rushed the screens you could imagine a whole batch that wasn't coated or cured correctly. But given the screens were made by multiple providers, and probably not a 1:1 relationship with the factories, it would make sense then that some bad and some good screens could have gone to all the factories making it hard to identify a pattern based on factory or week. The fact that it seems to be heavily affecting Space Gray could be due to the relatively higher production volumes of that color. Or it could be that the bad batch of screens mostly went to a factory that was making mostly gray. Though it currently seems like bad units have come from many factories. This would suggest the former is the issue. A bad run of screens (which could have been for many weeks at one particular supplier or more) got sent around to multiple factories.

I have also bought Iphone 6 a months back. There are certain scratches on the screen. Not happy on this part as i have taken really good care of the phone.

Hate to tell you but even gorilla glass gets micro scratches, glass might be scratch resistant but it will still scratch in time. I have a TV with a sheet of Gorilla glass 2 over it (Sony HX853) and if you look very closely with a torch which I did today to look, I see tiny micro scratches, maybe from manufacture and maybe from cleaning even though I use a microfibre cloth. Glass will scratch, even gorilla glass, just less easily than soda lime glass. The fact I cant see them on my TV in normal (no torch) usage is fine and does not worry me in the slightest, but I can understand they would on a phone. My 5s is over a year old (with Applecare) and I have to say it has not one scratch on it thankfully, but please don't assume Gorilla glass or any aluminosilicate glass for that matter wont scratch, it will but just not as easily.

I have owned several iPhone models, the iPhone 6 is the latest addition to that collection. I have handled all of my phones with extreme care and never had problems with scratches on my iPhone. But yesterday I was with a good friend of mine noticed all sorts of very small scratches on my iPhone's screen. So no, you are not the only one who has this problem. I think it the ion - X glass on the iPhone 6 is inferior to the regular glas, used in the older iPhones, in terms of strength.

My first ultra portable device was a Palm PDA. They had plastic screens and a stylus. It has made me overly paranoid about using a screen protector. I did go without a protector on my iPad and it eventually developed noticeable wear in the center, probably due to too much "Infinity Blade." Installing a screen protector after this happened completely hid the wear and it's impossible to tell the difference between it and a pristine screen while the protector is on. It's not too late to install a protector if you do not like seeing this screen wear.

I really did prefer the feel of the screen without a screen protector, but eventually found protectors that are also made from gorilla glass. The one on my iPhone 5 only developed a few minor scratches over two years and they were definitely my fault. I got the protectors from spigen.com and like the ones that have rounded corners better. The screen feels like there is no protector at all, but if you scratch it up, it can be replaced.

Lets just set the record straight right here and now this is now my second iphone 6 plus that went from a sealed Apple box to a case and screen protector and still managed to end up with scratches. Here is a break down of how I use my phone

morning = phone comes off the charger carried around all morning in my hand never in a pocket

afternoon = phone sits on my desk while I work never once picked up to read a text or email

night = phone goes back on the charger for the night

So you see all day long my phone is babied never once inside a pocket never once placed in a position where it could be dropped. As I said earlier my both my phones went from a factory sealed box inspected ** myself and an apple tech for damaged neither one of them were damaged they then went into a case and a screen protector was installed. Yet both suffered the same fate they are both scratched.

Moral of the story if you are going to use the phone it is going to get scratched the phone is not the hope diamond if it is used it will eventually end up with normal wear and tear should you want to have a scratch free flawless phone leave it sealed in the box. Otherwise use the phone, enjoy it and then in two years upgrade again. Hope this helps

At this point yes it would appear normal wear and tear I have even looked at people's phones who have been out of the box and within minutes of being placed in a pocket have come back out with small scratches

And just to set the record straight it is not an isolated issue samsungs and droids have suffered the same including samsungs flagship s5 so it is not just iphone

A lot of people have said they never experienced this issue with their previous iPhones though, which tends to suggest the 6's screen, or at least a certain batch of screen is of inferior quality.
