iPhone 6 screen easily scratched?
Have been taking EXTREMELY good care of my 6+, but the corners already have visible scratches. Anyone else experiencing this?

Its not the "cases that scratch the Phone", but it could be the dirt / dust in the cases. Many of the posts in this thread don't even talk about cases ...thus "it is not that much of a mystery" is missing the opportunity to actually learn what really is occurring.
Maybe that's why I have no scratches. My phone was cased the minute it came out of the box and then to carry my phone around, it's put in a holster case. The only thing that comes in contact with my iPhone screen is my finger. We all have out pet peeves and I can't stand smudges. So when they invent a phone that can't show smudges, I'd happily pay more!
Of cause it could be dirt, but jacket is almost new and i am not digger for sure.
Lumia 720 in the my hands had no scratches at all for about 3 months.
Also my wife has cheap Sony Xperia J, two months without film - no scratches at all.
Indeed it is the cases because where the phones were upon installtaion as well as unpackaged and removal were in air tight rooms the same rooms used my hospitals and the government as I said I am an auto body tech I have a very sensitive eye for details
I too have a few light scratches on my iPhone 6. I too baby my phone as I do all my electronics. I was waiting on a screen protector that would fit the whole screen that wasn't rubbery. I found one from iloome that I ordered yesterday. It says it covers the whole screen, they paint the edge black to keep you from seeing bubbles if it doesn't fit 100%, but it is tempered glass.
I figured that the scratches might be from the little brass rivet that holds the tiny pocket inside of the right pants pocket but since I noticed the scratches I avoid sliding it in and more or less place it in without touching those rivets. I did have a very similar scratch on the screen protector of my 5, just under the left hand side of the ear speaker in a vertical orientation. Don't know how hard brass is compared to the screen but it shouldn't scratch this easy. Not by today's standards.
hopefully they own up to it and fix it. I think that Steve Jobs was very hard on production to minimize this type of setback. As well as release of software before it was ready *cough* (ios8) *cough*. He was something of a tyrant to the people that worked for him but it was for these reasons that the build quality was so great when he was still here and why the consumer loved him.
I hope Tim reads this discussion. A lot of people are disappointed in the quality of products since the passing of Steve. He himself told Tim to do the right thing (Tims words). So please, Tim, do the right thing.
Not quite convinced by your overly convincing statements about clean room like environments, but it is clear you are going to keep trying to say "the case" is the root cause. I have to give up on trying to open up those thoughts. If I am going to list "thoughts" then consider this...
1. Over 98% of the viewers of this thread have not been driven to comment about scratches
2. This thread would be many times larger by now if "most" iPhone 6 / 6 Plus devices in-use were showing screen scratches
3. Odds are then that some iPhone 6 / 6 Plus devices have more of a propensity to scratch then others
4. Since some posters have had multiple iPhones with scratches then perhaps batches of iPhones distributed to certain geographies in certain timeframes scratch more than others
5. If I was going to try to return a scratched iPhone ...I would want the replacement to come from another time and another place.
6. Apple and / or their suppliers undoubtedly at least test a statistical sample of screen glass for propensity to scratch therefore the number of units that are scratching easily have escaped due to a process flaw, a failure to follow the process or are fewer in number than the quality system capability.
7. My resulting hypothesis would be that scratching screens is not generally a problem for the new iPhone 6 / 6 Plus.
Bottom-line though is that if I was a new iPhone owner and felt I had been very reasonably protective of the phone, and yet it scratched noticeably ...I would be approaching the genius bar advisor and expect some consideration of this issue.
It was more the point I was trying to make is that the company only way to keep scratches from happening is to keep the phone in a sealed box outside of that you are going to develops scratches under normal phone use conditions that was the point I was trying to make
It is definitely more susceptible to scratching. I had a 3g, a 4, and a 5 each for two years. I have treated my 6 that I have had since it was released identically and it already has at least five scratches larger than anything I ever got on any of those other phones.
I am also very disappointed by this. In the release they said the glass is "ion-hardened" so I thought maybe it would be less susceptible to scratch. Nope, it's actually more susceptible. Awesome.
Use a Zagg screen protector. I wouldn't own an iPhone without using one. They are expensive but they have a lifetime guarantee. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like they've come out with one for the iPhone 6 yet...that's a shame. We do use them on our company phones.
If you want them let me know I have 6 of them you can have because even they failed i also have ones for other iPhone models as well
I, too, discovered slight scratching of my screen yesterday. I got the iPhone 6 (4.7") on September 19. I've kept it in a case but haven't used a screen protector. With the 7 other iPhones that my wife and I have owned, we've never used a screen protector and have never had a scratch. Has something changed? Per the iPhone keynote, the "ion-infused" cover glass is supposed to be harder and more scratch resistant.
I've been very careful with the phone but still scratching is there.
I've had my iPhone 6 (4.7" gold) since launch day... I saw on the screen what I thought was a fingerprint, but ended up being a hairline scratch, the only one that is visible while the screen is on. Over the past couple weeks, it's obtained countless more hairline scratches around the edges of the screen, they aren't visible while I'm using the phone though. The single scratch is annoying, I may see if they can replace it, but the "cosmetic damage isn't supported by warranty" thing is really concerning me :/
For the record, I haven't been around sand in about 2 years and there is little around the house that can actually scratch glass. From my understanding, this is a scratch on the oleophobic coating, and they get worse over time :/
I've had the phone in a case since day 2 (I bought a case the following morning, there were no scratches before the case was applied/used), though no screen protector was used (I feel that these types of phones shouldn't need one for most intensive purposes.
I am starting to wonder if there is going to be some liquid screen cleaner that is going to fill-in or otherwise mask these hairline scratches in the near future. I guess Corning should know to what degree such a solvent is possible.
I'm extremely careful, but my partner is not. So, I looked at his phone this afternoon and there are absolutely no scratches on it. Lot's of grease and fingerprints, but no scratches. Still, It got me thinking about screen protectors and I decided to go ahead and put Zagg on both phones. I don't like wet application screen protectors and Zagg now has what they call Zagg Glass for iPhone 6. It's more expensive, but it's simply amazing. BestBuy installed it for me as I'm not good at installing them, but it's simply incredible. One benefit I've already noticed is the screen is even better looking with the screen protector. In addition to being a glass layer, it's less susceptible to finger prints and is supposedly extremely difficult to scratch, but it also comes with a lifetime guarantee, so if it does scratch or if anything goes wrong, all I have to do is contact Zagg and they'll send a replacement and I send in the piece they are replacing.
It cost $39 per phone, but if anyone is concerned about their phone, it's well worth it. Plus the guy installing the protector suggested if anyone has any hairline scratches, this Zagg Glass would make them completely invisible.
So instead of moaning and being upset, go get some Zagg Glass put on your phone. You'll be glad you did.
