Airplay Apple TV not working/mirroring after IOS 8

After upgrading to IOS 8 on my IPad 2, updating my Apple TV, resetting my router, the mirroring does not work.

I had no problem till the new release was installed.

Does anyone have a solution?

Previously when wanting to watch a video from my iPad or iPhone through Apple TV, there was an icon for AirPlay in the video app. Now there is an icon for AirPlay only in the Control Center.

I have watched video since upgrading, but have not tried mirroring.

ONE KIND OF FIX!

For anyone still reading this thread, I was confused for a fair while after trying to share the iPad screen to my Apple TV (iOS 8), I was swiping up the control strip from the bottom of the screen, pressing the appropriate button and seeing the choices "iPad" and "Apple TV" -- then I would click the Apple TV and get the tick to appear next to it however nothing seemed to happen.

For ages I assumed something was broken...

However in fact, there is a little "on/off" slider switch BELOW the "Apple TV" but it requires you to scroll up to see it.

I had NO CLUE that it is there, hidden just off the bottom of the screen, which is a huge fail for Apples UI guys. When Apple decided to remove scroll bars so that they only appear when yo've just scrolled, they also remove the visual cue that there IS anything to scroll.

I have an ipad 2 as well and had the same problem until I read this post. Follow joebeimon's instructions it works.

i Went into the Apple TV settings- AirPlay, turned on conference room display. Then go into general and restart your Apple TV. Make sure your iPad is turned off when you restart your Apple TV. After your Apple TV has come back on, Turn on your iPad give it a few seconds to connect to your wifi. open up your control panel touch your Apple TV and you should see the mirror toggle now.

I frustrated for awhile about this. @ Joebeimon. Thanks

I was just repeating Winston Churchill's instructions, and my own experience with Applecare folks. I do not have an iPad though, so I am glad other people's ideas help..... What about you Betty.... Did Oxonian's suggestion help? I guess it should be the same on my iPhone 5, but I have not updated yet, due to all this bug action. Waiting until 8.0.2 is shown to be reliable.

I too am having a similar problem.

IPad3: ios 8.02

LR Apple TV (rev3): 7.0

BR Apple Tv (rev2): 6.2.1

Prior to updating the OS to the current versions, I could AirPlay from all iOS devices to all AppleTV's. Now, I cannot get the iPad to connect the the LR AppleTV. I can still connect to the BR AppleTV. This indicates to me that the issue is with AppleTV 7.0.

I have tried all the suggestions in this thread, including a full reset (which is truly frustrating). Nothing is working. No matter what I do, The LR AppleTV does not show up in the AirPlay menu.

I'm about to connect the AppleTV to my Mac and restore to the previous version of the OS since "Beats" is not worth being unable to stream video from my ipad that is not otherwise available on the AppleTV.

This is a big fail for apple. I'm going to run through all these options today, but I'm a developer and this got completely confusing. And now I lack confidence in whether users will be able to get mirroring operational in my app.

Can apple chime in?

Conference room is a dumbed down term for Wifi Direct connection. But from what I'm hearing it's the only way to get mirroring operational again period. So it might as well be called mirroring now.

AAfter many trials and tribulations and the kind and helpful replies from many users, i finally was able to make it work.

it just never occurred to me that after doing what seemed logical, scrolling up on the AirPlay and seeing Apple TV checked in, you must scroll up again and click the switch on for mirroring.

in the past, I did not have to do the second scroll up, once Apple TV was clicked on, it worked fine.

so the extra step did the trick.

thank you so much for the hint. I was very frustrated. You would think that Apple would have caution AppleTV users to follow the appropriate steps.

THe following might help other frustrated users....

1. Update IPad to the latest software. Turn on your iPad.

2. Update your Apple TV to the latest software. Turn on your Apple TV. Choose Computers. Make sure you are logged in.

3. Swish up to bring the option menu for Apple TV on your iPad.

4. Choose AirPlay

5. Click on Apple TV on the right hand box.

6. Scroll up to bring the Mirroring option and turn the switch on.

hopefully it will work for all or most of you.

In my situation the "conference room" setting was a red herring. Once I got the tip to simply scroll down in order to find the mirroring button, all was well. It still works with or without conference room switched on. With conference room on, you get a very annoying (and rather useless) screen prompt to contend with.

I can't speak for all, but all I needed was the direction (above) to find that hidden/obscured mirroring button!

Hi,

a couple of day ago i posted, that i did a full reset and it than worked. For a some hours i found the ATV on my ipad.

So i thought i had solved the problem. But i was wrong.

So i went from LAN to WIFI and everything is fine since than. No matter whether Conference Room is on or off.

I too think, this setting is only to display the information,on how to connect, on the screen.

Imho it is an ethernet issue wich came with the update.
