Airplay Apple TV not working/mirroring after IOS 8

After upgrading to IOS 8 on my IPad 2, updating my Apple TV, resetting my router, the mirroring does not work.

I had no problem till the new release was installed.

Does anyone have a solution?

Previously when wanting to watch a video from my iPad or iPhone through Apple TV, there was an icon for AirPlay in the video app. Now there is an icon for AirPlay only in the Control Center.

I have watched video since upgrading, but have not tried mirroring.

I have just read this post after posting about my own problems accessing mirroring. If only I'd read this first! Worked for me, I now have access to mirroring again- but why the change? With no hints or clues to the change in behaviour, the solution is not very intuitive. Well done for finding it Lugie! The confusing part is, mirroring on my iPhone 5c still works the same way- the problem only existed on my iPad 4

This reply work for me, i am dumb too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow...I feel dumb. I was going through all the other suggestions with this issue (and non were working...) until I saw your reply....and sure enough...I didn't realize you could scroll down and enable mirroring. I think it used to be visible, but now it's not...so it's a bit hidden. I still feel dumb though 😉...but thanks!

oh my god after spending hours resetting everything and then i read this discussion group and come to find out you can scroll down on the airplay list!

I couldn't see my apple tvs until i figured out you had to scroll down since it doesn't show scrolling bars..

even the guys at apple support online refered me to some senior tech and they couldn't figure it out it never occured to anyone of them to tell me "hey have you tried scrolling"

And the mirrrowing was fixed by turning on the conference room thing

I had the same problem and found the solution.

Simply restart your AppleTV.

Probably best to make sure the Apple TV software is up to date then restart.

On Apple TV go to Settings - General - RESTART

This is what I did and suddenly the Airplay button on my iPhone appeared again.

It also solved mirroring problems I was having with my iMac and MacBookAir.

Hope it works for you.

Hi there, I thought I'd share my thoughts on this as well.

I just purchased an iPad Air and could not get the Airplay to work at all. Even when I tried to toggle the"Mirroring" slider it just wouldn't work, or stay on. In the end, I reset everything. I unplugged my TV, Modem, Router (Netgear for what it's worth), Apple TV (2nd Gen), and turned the iPad Air completely off and back on.

I left everything off for about two minutes, turned it all back on, and everything works no problem now. Not sure this will help anyone but it's what worked for me!

My main reason for getting Airplay to work is so I can use the NFL Game Pass and stream it to my HDTV. So now I'm quite happy!

Love the community, thanks for the help! Good luck!

Unfortunately I have done this too, which works for a little while and then it plays up in less than a day. My phone has no issues with Airplay _at_all_. My ipad air is the black sheep, and very occasionally my MBP will have Airplay issues, that usually get resolved either with terminal commands or quicker to just reboot.

Just O/T but why did you not wait for the VERY soon to released Air 2? I'm about to sell my Air.
