iPhone 6 BlueTooth issues with iOS8

Ok here is my findings:

Tried 2 iPhone 5 units before iOS8 and no issues with Bluetooth (1 I had for 2 years and no issues in my car). Once updating to iOS8 the bluetooth didn't work well at all for phone calls but music connects fine. Strange issues with the unit automatically start dialling but not able to cancel call until you disconnected bluetooth.

Also incoming calls ring but unable to answer and seem to lock up so you have to disconnect bluetooth to hang up.

I tried everything listed in the forums here and what the Apple reps told me. It works for a short while until the phone gets turned off or synced with iTunes. Now I have a new iPhone 6 with iOS 8 and it worked initially before I started setting things up.

I did not restore from a back up, I started as a new phone. Once I installed all my apps (Not in iTunes, rather manually over the air) and changed settings on the phone (not sure if it because of changing settings or turning the phone off) it would not connect to bluetooth in my car anymore, well it does just for music. I have tried my wife's iPhone 5c and it seems to work fine with my bluetooth so it definitely has nothing to do with my vehicle.

Apple there is a definite issue here. Stop telling me and other people to contact my car manufacturer to fix the issue. It all worked fine before iOS 8. Something needs to be done ASAP or I will be returning my phone and jumping ship to an Android or Windows phone as much as that may pain me. I have been a loyal Apple customer for the last 7 years. If this is how you are going to treat me and other loyal customers, you will not keep us for long.

I am hoping someone from Apple is reading this. If so I am expecting to be contacted. We expect a resolution fast!

I have a similar issue but with a pair of wireless headphones. Turtle BEACH XP 500 headphones can't be discovered with new iPhone 6. These headphones paired perfectly fine with iPad and iPhone 4s. IPad is running on ios 8. The iPhone six is paired with 2013 GLK and a jawbone wireless speaker. For whatever reason the iPhone six cannot discover the headphones.

I have tried resetting phone as instructed in earlier posts but to no avail. Apple has some work to do.

I have the same issue on my 2012 Range Rover Sport... iPhone 6 shows as connected and will play music but will not connect to the phone. It does not seem to be recognizing my service provider, it used to say verizon under the phone name, now it states my phone name and no service provider. My girlfriends iPhone 4s with iOS7 works fins as did mine before I "upgraded ???" It's not the vehicles... Bluetooth worked as designed yesterday, still works great with the girlfriends phone just not with my 128 gig $849 phone... It's so disappointing.

State of the art... most impressive software update ever... Really?

BTW... Same issue with my plantronics Bluetooth headset, connects to my phone but will not announce calls or allow me to answers calls from the headset.

At this point I can only answer my phone by physically picking it up, hitting the green button and holding it to my ear... Just like the original iPhone, I guess that's what Apple considers progress now that Steve Jobs is gone.

At one time Apple had the best software out there, then they integrated it into the best devices... Now they are just living off of their past innovation and reputation... Reminds me of the road to nowhere Blackberry took.

Sad... Just sad.

Phones tested:

- iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus

OS:

- 8.0 and 8.02

Car:

Porsche Cayenne 2014 with Porsche Communication

Issues:

Both phones managed to connect, could play music over Bluetooth.

Calls received could not be answered from car.

Calls made disconnected after a few seconds.

Managed to fix:

- reset PCM to full factory reset and car handover mode.

- reset iPhones with 'reset all settings' (tried all other forms of reset before without luck)

- once reset was complete went to Bluetooth settings in phone and removed the leftover profiles (tried this before phone reset without luck)

- changed iPhone name (tried this before phone reset without luck)

- paired phone and PCM in car.

Now all works as it should!!!

Notes: issue defiantly comes from the phone being restored from a backup of a previous phone when upgrading. All reset instances still had the Bluetooth profiles left in them. Only reset all settings deleted the profiles internals but still left traces. Which had to be manually removed.

IOS 8x appears to be the culprit here. My 5S worked fine with bluetooth devices until the upgrade to 8.0 and then 8.2. My 6 has the same problems.

When connected with blue tooth device phantom phone calls are placed and CAN NOT BE HUNG UP ON. One gets the regular phone screen used to make calls, not the red radio button to disconnect.

The only way to hang up is to break the bluetooth connection or reboot the phone to break it.

This happens from time to time with phone calls made from the unit over bluetooth. You just can't hang up.

It is a total PITA. It's a coding problem and needs to be addressed.

Here are the steps I took on two iPhones and they worked like a charm. Had someone test it while music was playing via my iPhone to car speakers and answered call successfully. After hanging up, the music resumed. PERFECT!

Disclosure : Iphone 8.0.2 on IPhone 5s

Backup device.

Deleted all bluetooth devices registered in my Lexus.

Deleted all bluetooth connections on my IPhones.

Shutdown Car.

Shutdown Iphone.

Power on IPhone and go to Settings --> General --> Reset all settings

Phone will restart.

Go to Settings --> General --> About and select the iPhone name.

Change it to something else.

Sync it with iTunes.

Enable Bluetooth on iPhone.

Start the car.

Register your device with BT.

Register with Audio if necessary.

Now test. GOOD LUCK.

I'm having the exact same issue with my iPhone 6. I linked my wife's iPhone 5s and my son's Galaxy 5 to my Toyota Bluetooth and neither of them had an issue. The issue has to be with ios8 and the iPhone 6. My wife's 5s has the IOS 8 update and no issue connecting to my Toyota. I will try the "Reset all Settings" solution tomorrow and see if it works. Apple should be getting the message by now that there is an issue. Maybe IOS 8.03 will have a solution.

I have a Nissan Qashqai 360 (2013) and iPhone 6 plus, it allows me to stream music, use voice recognition and dial a number but nothing comes through the car speaker system, Worse still an incoming call ring tone sometimes comes through the speaker but as soon as you answer you can't hear anything or occasionally you can hear through the phone and the car speaker system but they can't hear you! Very, very frustrating. Lets not get started on the hour on the phone trying to sort out odd sync issues with iTunes, even after 8.02!

I have contacted Apple support and been to my local Apple store to seek advice. I get the usual Microsoft stock answer, "we have not had any other complaints" or "you need to contact your car manufacturer for an update", Apple are these really the best answers you can give?! I dualy contacted Nissan, who have had a large number of customers contacting them with the same issue. There are no updates for the car and even if there were there is no way to apply them as far as they are concerned. My iPhone 5S works fine with IOS 8.0 and 8.02 with my Qasqai! My iPhone 6 also works fine with my daughters KIA Picanto and her boyfriends Ford Ranger. My friends 2014 Porsche has the same issue as my Qashqai!

I have reset the phone, changed it's name, reset the car system back to factory settings and I have even restored the phone! No joy! This is a deal breaker for me and the phone will be returned within the 14 day window we have in the UK if Apple do not acknowledge this issue and indicate there is a fix in the works.

APPLE, PLEASE TALK TO YOUR LOYAL CUSTOMERS!

This has been one of the worst Apple launches I can remember, a shame as the phone has some great features. I will be very reluctant to buy an Apple product again until the device has been out for at least six months. Since the sad death of Steve Job's Apple is dropping the ball way too often. From a customer support point of view they are starting to become like all the rest. Why have we all bought Apple in the past? Because they just work right out of the box! Sadly this is starting not to be the case.

Apple, it's not just your products that have made you successful, it is outstanding customer service and solid reliability. I have seen a marked change in corporate attitude over the last year, focused more on sales than service. Apple of old seemed to put customer service above sales and funny old thing the sales followed. Lose that reputation and sales will start to drop in time and like many other giants you will fall!

Disappointed of Shoreham!

Infiniti JX 35 2013

iPhone 5s work fine with IOS 8 on it.

iPhone 6 Plus shows connected but no incoming or outgoing call can be established.

I'm on the phone with Apple and have a ticket opened with for last 5 days.

I also called Infiniti Dealership and they are checking on their side if update for Infiniti will be created or if Apple has to look into it.

So far i had cleared network settings and turned off WiFi during driving do minimize interference.

Followed the instructions provided by U324266 in my Audi A4 and it worked. Makes sense now because when I originally connected the iphone6 to Bluetooth in the car, it found my device with the name of my iphone5. Never realized this until I renamed the iphone6 and realized that the phone was simply called iphone. That means there was something from the restore still left in the settings of my new iphone6. When I reconnected the Iphone6 to my car, after erasing all the settings, it found the Iphone with the new name I setup. Apple should have solved is problem with their update but at least there appears to be a solution. Now I have to fix all the other settings that were erased on the phone. Oh well.
