I am also concerned as I have an iPhone 6+ due to be delivered sometime in mid October. It is too early to speculate what happened or is happening but if it is a design flaw Apple should have known better. It's obvious that as the phone gets thinner the material strength would become an issue.
Maybe future iPhones should be constructed out of a high end plastic material that allows for some bending or they could make the case out of titanium (or at least brace the chasis with it). Only issue would be the affect using a material like titanium would have on the sale price of the phone.
I don't see Apple going back to a smaller iPhone design for the iPhone 7 lets say. So a solution to future bending needs to be found.
Stating my "normal habit" is bending objects by placing a large device in a tight space, is inaccurate. I'm accustomed to a phone in my pocket, being durable enough to withstand my normal habits. The point I am trying to make is, my normal habits should not cause any phone to bend. A large phone should be structurally sound to withstand the confines of a tight pocket or a prolonged firm press. No pun intended, but I'd be crushed, if my iPhone 6 Plus were to bend.
I agree 100% it should be able to handle normal issue in a front pocket and not bend. if it doesn't its a flaw plain and simple.
This reply is to those who think Apple is responsible for bent phones.
Madness, shear madness. Where does it say in the Apple warranty that if the phone bends while in your pocket that they will replace the phone? I think some of you need to go back to school and redesign your brain and then read the warranty information prior to making an informed decision as to whether you want to buy this phone knowing in advance that there is no damage warranty for sitting down with the phone in your pocket, just the same as there is no warranty for getting it wet.
Shaking my head - I can't believe the lack of common sense and lack of responsibility some people are willing to display in public.
You are correct in that Apple Care at this point will not cover physical damage, such as sitting on your phone. However, there are other retailers that sell the iPhone 6 Plus, who offer extended warranties that cover accidentals, in addition to carriers offering insurance. It's a possibility they would cover it.
Holy cow this topic is tired. If you put your phone in your pocket and sit on it, it might bend. I would say that is not iPhone specific.... #DoNotSitOnIt

Don't misquote me, it's tacky.
Try again, use all the words rather than just the ones that suit you.
Don't shake your head to hard, some of the rocks in there might fall out.
The vast majority of over 1 billion smartphone owners on this planet carry their phones in their pockets. If Apple did not properly engineered their phones to survive this typical use case, they failed. Period. By likening a phone getting bent while in your pocket to a phone getting wet, you are displaying your ignorance in public.

Nonsense.
Clearly, comprehension is not one of your strong suits. I was paraphrasing. Your criticism is rather insignificant and does not contribute to this discussion.
Thanks for your opinion, and the other ones as well.
From my personal experience, I carried my iPhone 6 in my back pocket for last 3 days occasionally sitting on it. Same way I carried my iPhone 4 for the last 4 years. When I checked it last night for any bending, it was very slightly bent. I was able to bend it back by hand and get it straight again using a straight edge. My old iPhone never bent, but granted it is a lot smaller. Just wanted to share my experience. Thank you.
i wish people would stop being so gullible. does anyone really think apple would release a phone that bends when exposed to moderate or little pressure in pants. watch this, a better source than a Canadian with a camera. http://money.cnn.com/video/technology/2014/09/24/iphone-6-plus-bend.cnnmoney/

Let's apply that same logic to iPhone 4. Does anyone really think apple would release a phone that diminishes signal strength as you hold it in your bare hands? Unfortunately, they did.
That being said, is it possible Apple made an oversight by underestimating the structural integrity during the course of prolonged exposure to everyday stress? Potentially.
I think it's gullible to base a conclusion, solely on any of the videos as of right now. But I don't think it's gullible to be concerned at the prospect that Apple may have overlooked the issue.
These videos are inconclusive. I'm referring to the video of the person bending their iPhone 6 Plus with ease, and the CNN video in the link you provided - which shows the journalist who's unable to bend his phone. All these videos show is that one person is stronger than the other, when applying an inordinate amount of force in an attempt to bend their iPhone. Successful or not, this instant force bending is an unlikely scenario for most of us. Neither of these videos properly reproduce the conditions of common prolonged stress over the course of a few hours, which is what some are reporting.
The issue is real. It's happening, but to what end. Are the bending iPhones a result of carelessness, such as placing it in you back pocket and sitting, or are they prone to normal prolonged exposure to everyday stress, such as a tight front pocket.
Are there any iPhone 6 Plus owners out there, who'd like to chime in, and tell us your experiences?
