I've just read this article which seems to indicate that Apple does indeed do lots of "real life" pocket tests and other stress tests:

There is some reassuring and convincing information there. Like the thousands of pocket tests they apparently did.

I wonder if this article is being carried by other news sources.

Wow. People get so aggressive over their brand having issues. I would assume apple did not get the aluminum from China. If they did it might have impurities in it. Learning from past issues in every industry, hopefully. I work with metals for a refinery and we test any materials from China much more than others. So it should be safe to assume they procured the aluminum somewhere else. Which would indicate it's just thin. If they replace those defective I don't see an issue.

As far as the one guy going all Abercrombie and Fitch saying people need to lose weight and wear clothes that fit: seriously? That statement is so idiotic I don't know if I should call your mom and tell her you're on the Internet or try to get you some psychological help.

It's a good phone with first gen issues. It happens. This coming from a guy with a note 3... Also on that subject to the guy about clothes that fit and weight. I have been in the situation where I had to wear an old pair of jeans with small pockets. My note never has gotten bent. It is not normal.

Hopefully Apple does the right thing by those affected. The iPhone is a decent phone and deserves to be known for the good. Not the bad
