Problems After update to iOS 8 on ipad 2

Hello community,

please pay attention when you update your iPad 2 from iOS 7 to 8. The whole useability of my iPad broke down and their are many problems using my iPad now. Everthing is really slow and I always need a restart to connect to my service provider with 3G. The following problems occurred on my iPad:

  • Safari is working realy slow and sometimes brake down
  • mail is also realy slow and most of the functions sometimes don't work or hang
  • 3G connection fails anytime you switch on the iPad and needs a restart

TO Apple:

please improve this version of iOS and submit your update asap, otherwise my iPad is not usable anymore and lose me as a customer.

thx.

Incredibly disappointed with ios8. I've been with Apple since the iie, and for the first time in 30 years I'm questioning whether my new purchases will be from the Apple ecosystem. My iPad 2 has been crippled by ios8. It literally takes a couple of seconds to respond to a double click of the home button, and apps randomly close and then reopen (or don't). Reminiscent of updating to Vista on my PC at work.

We have 4 iPads, 3 iphones, 3 Apple TVs, iMac, MBA, Mac mini, so its not like I'm an apple hater. But this has been a huge fail. No yosemite for me for 6 months. I've simply stopped trusting Apple to get the 'it just works' mantra happening. My PC friends used to hate me saying that, and now in all honesty, I have to say, I can't make that boast.

Ios8 is a fiasco. Please Apple, get the updates operating systems right, free or itherwise. You'll lose customers...

Thanks for the reply. I sent feedback thru the link you keep giving before I posted here. I understand that they tell us they can't respond to the feedback...except they're an extraordinary company, not ordinary...

The the fix on the previous page didn't work. It takes two to three seconds for the double click on the home button to take effect. It used to be instantaneous. And it started the moments after I installed Ios8, so im convinced I didn't magically develop a hardware fault the same day I installed the new OS...

i guess for me, and many others, the disappointment is that this represents the first step in contemplating leaving a long and happy relationship. The default mode for me has always been to buy the next Mac model. I was planning to get the new iPad when it comes out next week, and now I find myself reading reviews of other devices. I like the interoperability, the reliability and the sheer class of Apple, but it's taken a battering in the last few weeks!

i will take this iPad in to the Genius Bar and see what they say...our iPad mini, and newer generation iPad seem to be faring well, but my little daughter doesn't get to inherit this ipad in place of her gen 1 ipad (which is forever stuck on iOS 5.1.1, and is essentially obsolete because new apps won't run on it, and it can't be updated to ios6....and 17 app updates it keeps telling her about cannot happen, because they need ios6)...

Enough already. But seriously, Apple needs to learn from the mistakes of IBM, Microsoft and others...

Users here on this forum are getting good results from one of the solutions suggested. There are many other solutions offered and they have worked for people, but this particular one will give you a "new" iPad (so to speak) that is free of corrupted files you may have accumulated over a period of time and put your iPad in pristine condition, the way it was when you first got it.

People are getting their iPad 2's to work on iOS 8.0.2, and working fine ... and also without Apple making a single change to the iOS 8.0.2. In other words the iPad 2 works with iOS 8.0.2 and works well!

Users here on this forum are able to get their iPads working and running fine on iOS 8.0.2 by applying a few solutions offered on this forum. And they're able to do that, after their initial problems ... without ... Apple changing anything on iOS 8.0.2!!

Just a question -- if you restore to factory default, does that take me back to the OS at the time of purchase? And if so, then what? Wouldn't that cause a problem with apps that won't run with old operating systems? I'm functioning much better after resetting the network but sure don't want to get into a position that nothing works apps-wise. If someone tries this please let me know how that turns out. I'd rather be satisifed with 95% than be on an old operating system that can't make the jumps because Apple doesn't have iOS 5-7 to get back to.

No. You will remain on the latest iOS as the firmware was updated.
