I think the iphone 6 does not bend so much as the 6 plus does. It requires a little more force to bend the 6 per some youtube videos. So I think regular 6 users will be fine However, the 6+ does seem to be a design flaw. I wonder how apple will respond to this matter. I think this has been blown out of proportion by the interwebs...
I can only talk for myself and some may say im stupid for doing it but i applied absolutely full pressure on my iphone 6 and it was rock solid. I was not able to bend it.
I have two rules that have served me well:
1) Never buy the first iteration of new hardware.
2) Never download the first iteration of new software.
I agree with you on the second one. But the first, not so much. There are major differences in hardware from the iPhone 5 to the 5S (A 64-bit chip w/ an entirely new architecture, Touch ID, etc.)
Anyone who carries an $800 electronic device unprotected in a pocket deserves what they get. Are you all idiots? Sorry, I have ZERO sympathy for anyone so foolish. Not only can they bend (every phone on the market will bend under these circumstances), but pocket lint in the connector will cause connectivity and charging problems (there are thousands of posts on this subject), grit, coins, keys can scratch the screen, the back and the camera lens (thousands of posts on this subject also), and dirt can get in the buttons and prevent them from working reliably (also posts on this subject). Then there's sweat that can damage the electronics and trigger the moisture sensors, voiding the warranty. Get a good belt case. There are plenty of them available.
Having had my iPhone 6 plus since Friday and wearing it in front pocket of my loose fit Levi's every day while in apples black leather case it shows no sign of bending. All this stories yet apple said only 9 have been returned for bending. And this has been talked about from the iPhone 5 many and back was aluminum and they were sat on. Me I only start carrying a phone naked (caseless) a few weeks before I sell them for new model each year. It's 7mm thick and the dimensions are such that with enough force ie your butt while it's held in a tight pocket it will bend.
Get a case plain and simple. The size dictates it and there are already some nice slim profile cases you don't need an otter box but you need something if not in loose fitting pocket.
PS: after reading a I e post I don't let the phones turn sideways in my pocket as its to big to do that against my thigh while jeans are pulling ends down. Get a case and its a non issue. I get too dollar after a year for my iPhones as they are scratch free.
Just to add to above I have a loaded late 2913 rMBP maxed out. I can bend that if I twist it like the you tubers are doing with phones. I carry my pappy in a great brenthaven case so that doesn't happen. Same thing as phone. And apple already stated they will replace them but it must pass a visual inspection that they always do on returns for external complaints
<<Not only can they bend (every phone on the market will bend under these circumstances),>>
And I would whole heartedly disagree, as would my iPhone 4 would after ridding around in my pocket for 4 years with zero issues.
Hanging it out in a belt case can have just as many issues; exposure to sun, rain, getting knocked if you pass to close to something, etc. All depends on the types of environment your in. My phone would take a lot more abuse hanging out in a belt case then it would in my pocket. That's why I started using my pocket.
I'm sorry that you can't seem to understand that people use phones in different ways and carrying one in a pocket is not what one would consider out of the norm. While it is true that doing so can lead to many of the issues you say, for some, a pocket may be the best option. Heck Docker's even came out with a "tech" pair of pants that had special built-in pockets especially for phones. So while you may think this foolish, there are many that do as a normal matter of course. To think that Apple would not test this is beyond me. I wonder if we walked into Apple right now, how many employees would have a phone in their pocket.
I would expect too that a phone that is priced at $800 would be a little more durable and last a little longer than 4 days without having an issue.
In short, don't shoot the messenger.
Jim.

You my friend, is unreasonable.
Collection of random pictures of variety of bent phones have no point to prove. Yes, anything will bend with enough force. The key here is the amount of force needed to do that. Pressure from tight clothing around human body is not an acceptable threshold. A device meant to be carried in clothing should withstand inevitable pressures in the intended environment. Therefore, this is a short sighted design flaw. Much less appreciated thinness resulted in undesired protruding camera and this.
After using an iPhone 4 for four years without any issue, I'm now stranded without hope for a mobile solution because my workflow used iOS and Mac. 😟
How long did it take until your iPhone 6 (or is it a 6+) bent?
After almost leaving the mall with no case for my new iPhone 6 (not a Plus), I decided to spend a few bucks on the "Rugged Case" sold at the Verizon store. I don't love it (especially the built-in plastic screen cover) but I've had the thing in the side pockets of my carpenter jeans and haven't noticed any bending problems. Bottom line is I'm glad I bought it given the problems that have been reported.
I had a rigid Speck case for my iPhone 4 (which I liked a lot) and I now have my eyes on their Mighty Shell as my eventual case.
Jim, I don't see in your posts, which iPhone 6 you have purchased. I can't imagine that it is an iPhone 6 vs. a 6 Plus. I have the iPhone 6 and use only the Apple silicone case, carrying it always in my front pocket with zero concern about bending. On my previous iPhone 5 I always used an Otterbox Case ...at first he Defender and then later the Armor due to being around lakes and rugged terrain each summer. I ordered an Otterbox Defender (because I couldn't find a truly waterproof case as yet) and received it prior to getting my iPhone. Currently the Defender sits unused as the iPhone 6 is such a great form factor with a simple silicone case. Also the dark clear Gorilla Glass looks good and is certainly relatively tough on it's own. Your posts make me think about a tougher case sooner rather than later, but only if you happen to have the iPhone 6 rather than the 6 Plus.

And I will also disagree, but with you.
They all bend, those that don't bend, break.

If I were to use the iPhone 6 the way i used iPhone 4 and results in a bent iPhone 6, then its useless no matter how fancy the arguments contrary is trying to prove otherwise.
If?
Did you?
Or is this a guess.
