I've been asked this by the Apple people and the repair agents. And clearly 'taking your word for it' doesn't apply in this case. I don't see how in three days I could bend the phone. I haven't taken it to work meaning other than during sleep I have spent approximately 4 hrs a day actualy using this phone. Only pockets I put it into was track pants and just put it down on the kitchen table etc.
I've never felt like such a criminal before. If I'd done it deliberately I wouldn't be so fussed about it. I dropped my 5 and paid $325 nzd to have it replaced with a refurbished model from my provider. If I can been some childish idiot testing the bendability of this phone I wouldn't be complaining about being quoted for a repair would I?
Nobody here can give you a new phone. Argue your case at the store.
Jim! I am almost in tears. It feels so good to have someone believe you. My bend was near my volume buttons. No where near as dramatic as these viral bends but if you place it on a flat surface you can clearly see light through the other side. This is a heartbreaking draining process. I'm currently in a 2 year contract paying $129 nzd per month. I signed up to this on the 28th of sep and the repair agents got my phone on the 1st of October and I haven't seen it since.
Unfortunately I live in New Zealand. We have no apple stores. My provider has to contact the repair agents who liase with Apple. So I shall mark this off as day 17 of my iPhone 6 nightmare
Is it a nightmare though? I mean even if what you say is true and you haven't done anything to bend the iPhone, you've said yourself that it's 'No where near as dramatic as these viral bends'. Is it in anyway affecting your usability of the device? Is it anything other than a very minor aesthetic imperfection?
My concern was that I didn't want to leave this, something pops up in future and my manufacturer warranty gets marked void because of 'physical damage'. My friend had 1 dead pixel within first 5 days of getting her 5s, took back to store, they contacted apple and new replacement, done. I assumed the same process would happen. Manufacturing fault = replacement under warranty. Or so I thought. And new zealand consumer law is not being followed in these situations either, but I guess that's a whole nother story.
I wasn't trying to be condescending, but simply stating what I experienced and reacting to the the overall dismissive nature of some of the posts here. So far in this thread I've been called liar and idiot, and told that whatever my problem is, I must have caused it.
Yes, I'm sure there are many that want their fifteen minutes of internet fame. Clearly the one video that started all this showing a guy using his thumbs to bend the case is out of the norm and using what is clearly excessive pressure to do so.
But in my case, I have done nothing like that. The phone bent and bent under what I would call quite normal usage. How I don't know, but I don't believe it's anything I did.
I think though this is a good point to wrap this up. Only over time will the facts come out and the proof may end up being nothing more than Apple redesigning the case.
Until then, it's going to be nothing more than a difference of opinion.
Jim.

And one that will be very hard to adjudicate lacking any repeatable evidence that it is happening. A few (no offence) apocryphal reports is not going to trigger a recall. Best to deal with this individually.
I Feel your pain as you can see in the thread I posted a picture of my iPhone that bent, and no one believes that it bent either... Clearly this is a real issue and not just abuse to the phone because having an iPhone that just bends in your pocket should not even be a thought in anyone's mind but yet it is a thought in everyone's mind.
Take it back.
Pete
