iOS 8.0.1 no service and no touch id
Looks like iOS 8.0.1 broke my ability to make a phone call and touch ID on my iPhone 6+. Hope there is an iOS 8.0.2 in the next few hours.

I told u restore via itunes
In the meantime, downgrade back to iOS 8.0.0. http://www.cultofmac.com/297568/downgrade-apples-buggy-ios-8-0-1-update/
I can't help thinking what Steve Jobs' reaction would be to all this. I'd like to think there'd be a stream of expletives that could be heard from the moon.
Update has broke my phone too 😟
Won't allow me to restore phone either - iTunes just doesn't seem to recognise it
This is ridiculous !
Same here. iTunes doesn't respond to restore requests.
Put it into recovery mode then restore
do you think the problem wil be solved in the next hours?
This did not work for me either. I had to download the IPSW for 8.0.1 and connect to iTunes for a manual install/update. Working perfectly now
yeah this *****. can't restore phone or get service. wonder when the ETA is for a fix/patch/whatever.
Apple Support explicitly told me not to do this.
They pulled back the 8.0.1 update, thats why restore from itunes isn't a option anymore.
you could download the 8.0 IPSW from : http://istheapplestoredown.com/ios and do a Shift / Options restore in itunes
same here
same here..... no service ... no touchid
Not possible unless downloaded from a third party. Apple pulled the update, which has rendered the 'restore' button useless.
Just spent time with Apple Support on this. Had to do a complete restore through iTunes to get working again. Support recommended that following the restore, I treat it as a new iPhone and getting it running before restoring from backup.
Just clicking on the restore button didn't work. I had to put the phone into recovery mode and restore from there. To get into recovery mode, disconnect the USB cable and power the phone off. Then hold down the Home button while you plug the USB cable back into the phone. Continue holding the Home button until iTunes see the phone in Recovery mode. Once in recovery mode the restore worked. This does wipe everything from your phone so make sure you have a back up before starting.
While this is a real pain to go through, I have cell service and TouchID back and working.
