iOS 8.0.1 no service and no touch id
Looks like iOS 8.0.1 broke my ability to make a phone call and touch ID on my iPhone 6+. Hope there is an iOS 8.0.2 in the next few hours.

What is wrong with Apple?!!! First the terribly botch the pre-order rollout with iPhone 6's, especially 6 pluses. Now you are lucky if Santa will bring you one. Then iOS 8 is an apparent disaster (at least for me on my iPhone 6+, two iPad Airs, iPad 4, and mini retina). I was a fool to upgrade.
Now they release supposedly a "fix" that makes things likely not work at all. The most egregious part of this is the fact that Apple clearly hasn't tested any of this! People rigorously tested software 30 years ago. Now that there are hundreds of millions of devices out there to update, they should test it thoroughly.
With Steve Jobs - head would have rolled. I'd like to see what Tim Cook has to say, if anything. And something should be said ... as idevices owned by many many people. People rely on their phones and tablets for their daily work.
Sorry, but with all the pomp and such, Apple needs to be humble and fix things and admit there is a problem publicly. What are they doing down in Cupertino? Cashing in their stock options?
Please just restore the iPhone via iTunes and restore from backup after and all the problems are gone.
Same here. No T-Mobile or TouchID on 6 Plus. How do we go back to 8.00?
So Apple will not compensate people how upgraded either. Had an out long conversation with a rep and there supervisor and resulted me nothing.
Just follow the instructions given and restore your device via iTunes and than restore from your backup. The IOS works fine if you install it via iTunes.
I followed this link and restored my iPhone back to iOS 8, all of my data and everything was preserved.
I was annoying to do, but it fixed the issues. (It's back to just iOS8 now)
Same problem here....
How do I fix this? I don't use iTunes...I moved to iPhone 6 from 5 by backup and restore from iCloud.
Backup to iCloud now?
Then recovery mode....
Then restore from this backup
Unclear on how that is just iOS8....is that because 8.0.1 was pulled?
Please help.
Instructions to revert back to iOS 8 for iPhone 6 and 6+
Download
iPhone 6+ - http://appldnld.apple.com/iOS8/031-05555.20140917.YWW0v/iPhone7,1_8.0_12A366_Res tore.ipsw
iPhone 6 - http://appldnld.apple.com/iOS8/031-05647.20140917.b0n9s/iPhone7,2_8.0_12A365_Res tore.ipsw
Download may take a while as everyone is downloading it right now
Once downloaded, move the file to the desktop (or wherever, just makes it easier to find)
Open iTunes
Just to be safe...do a backup and save it to your computer. Click "Back Up Now"
Connect iPhone to Computer
On Mac : While holding alt/option click on "Check For Updates". Finder will open up, navigate to the desktop and click on the ipsw file (that you just downloaded) and follow the promptings. Takes 2-3 minutes with one reboot.
I just did this, works perfectly.
Thanks for instructions. But I don't use iTunes.
Even if I install iTunes this seems like a huge deal for me. I use many two-factor authenticators for work and personal accounts. Those don't restore correctly (I believe) and so each one has to be disconnected before backup and reconnected after restore.
Has anyone seen an ETA on a fix?
Thanks.
You will see the fix before you will see an ETA.
WHEN did 8.0.1 come out!?! Iphone 5S has received it?
A few hours ago. Apple pulled the update.
This worked for me. Here are simple instructions to (safely) revert back to 8.0.0:
Everything seems to work for me again. Good luck!
(Edited to add: One correction to Rene's post: on Windows (Win7, at least) I had to SHIFT-click, not CTRL-click "Check for Update" in order to select the downloaded 8.0.0 file)
HHello this is what I was telling everyone
go to this website (http://www.cnet.com/how-to/how-to-restore-an-iphone-after-the-botched-ios-8-upda te/), scroll down to select your phone. this will download the ispw file, plug your phone into iTunes. On iTunes in Windows, hold down the Shift key and click the Update option. Those of you on OS X, hold down Alt key and click the Restore option in iTunes. Next, select your iPhone's IPSW file and follow the prompts. Next, select your iPhone's IPSW file and follow the prompts. this will REPLACE THE CURRENT IOS VERSION ON YOUR PHONE. DO NOT CLICK RESTORE AS THIS WILL ERASE IT.
