iOS 8.0.1 no service and no touch id

Looks like iOS 8.0.1 broke my ability to make a phone call and touch ID on my iPhone 6+. Hope there is an iOS 8.0.2 in the next few hours.

Tom,

downloaded the ipsw, now what? how do you do a manual install?

Follow the instructions in this link:

http://www.imore.com/ios-801-kill-touch-id-and-cell-service-your-iphone-6-or-iph one-6-plus-heres-how-to-fix

(on Windows, I had to SHIFT-CLICK rather than CONTROL-CLICK "Check for Updates" to bring up a browser to select the ipsw file)

Well,

I downloaded iOS 8.0 and forced an upgrade following the instructions in the latter portion of this discussion and my phone is back. Cell and touch ID. But, in my 25 years of using Apple products I have never experienced such a complete lack of attention to detail from them. I now have to think twice before clicking on an update and check with Macrumors, 9to5 mac, etc to see if something is wrong with an update before I install it.

Apple, we hold you to a higher standard!
