iOS 8.0.1 no service and no touch id
Looks like iOS 8.0.1 broke my ability to make a phone call and touch ID on my iPhone 6+. Hope there is an iOS 8.0.2 in the next few hours.

Luckily - my iPhone 6 and iPad Mini only downloaded the update -- but when I go to "install" it -- it comes up with an error message saying that it cannot install the update because "you are no longer connected to the internet". I contacted Apple support via chat and they told me that they pulled the update because of problems with it --- after now just seeing this thread -- I think that was an UNDERSTATEMENT! They didn't have a timeline for when it would be fixed either. If you can get through to support via chat (seemed the quickest for me) - they will walk you through whatever steps necessary to get you back up and running.
How do you fix if you don't have a Mac or a pc with iTunes? That is the point of iCloud?
really need a fix asap 😟
what a disaster!!
how do we fix this?
Same here in France.
No signal and no touch ID.
This is what I received from AppleTalk and it has worked on my iPhone 6+
Use recovery mode Follow these steps if you never synced your device with iTunes, if you don't have Find My iPhone set up, or if you can't get to your own computer. You'll need to put your device in recovery mode, which will erase the device and its passcode. Then you'll restore your device as new or from a backup. 1. Disconnect all cables from your device. 2. Turn off your device. 3. Press and hold the Home button. While holding the Home button, connect your device to iTunes. If your device doesn't turn on automatically, turn it on. 4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the Connect to iTunes screen. 5. iTunes will alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. 6. Click OK, then restore the device.
Do this even if you have synced.
Thanks Don! it worked. Took me 5 mins to download the file and around 5 mins for it to "rollback" to iOS 8. Much better than doing a restore.
Again, everyone don't do a restore DO a ROLLBACK to iOS 8.
googled the problem and found this article which includes a fix...don't know if the fix works or not ....

Yep, already posted here about 10 times.
My 5s is essentially useless! I did the OTA upgrade, and am now regretting it!
This is so ridiculous. I will never buy another apple product
ran into the same problem with my iPhone 6 (T-Mobile, US). Touch ID will no longer work, and I don't get a connection.
Is there a way to fix this problem without downloading the full IPSW? I am on the road with somewhat limited internet access (slow hotel internet) and need to be able to make and receive phone calls soon. Is there a point in going to an Apple Store?
I got the iPhone 6 yesterday from AT&T. Today I read somewhere about problems Apple was having with the IOS 8.0.1 upgrade/patch. I didn't know there was such an upgrade until then. I didn't think it would affect me, because I still have IOS 8. Then later today the phone froze up and touch ID stopped working. I re booted the phone and the screen un froze, and touch ID started working again. I am still not getting LTE cellular service. I made a test phone call, so I am getting some cellular, it says 4G, but not LTE.
I guess I will have to wait until this issue is fixed by apple, like everyone else.
For most, the procedure outlined on this site should fix your phone. Worked for me. Lost no data, only reinstalled iOS 8.
I feel really bad for everyone who just got a new iPhone and updated the OS just to find that now the phone is a brick if you aren't on WiFi or the phone is locked with touch id.
Surely this merits one of those apology letters apple did with the new maps at the very least.
I'm fixing mine now by going back to iOS 8. See below.
