Take it back. Or are you waiting for one of us to do it for you?
Pete
So, was the phone in your back pocket? Front pocket? On the chair when you sat on it?
I'm not saying it doesn't happen, it certainly does happen. I'm not going to say it is not an issue. What I will say is that it is a relatively small issue that affects a minute proportion of devices. So yes, it's unfortunate that this happened to you. It's not a huge problem though as it affects a very small proportion of devices. You are covered by warranty though, so you can get it replaced.
I should also note that in order for you to bend the phone that way, 90 pounds of force had to continuously be exerted onto the iPhone. That is quite a bit. Since you had a case, you had to exert more.
Apple is refusing to replace it under warranty. Two weeks old.
Front pocket. Noticed at the end of the day, "normal use", standing sitting.
Did you go to a physical store or try to chat online. I've found that the purple online generally are a little better about getting things replaced.
Both...it's bizarre. I think my mistake was going to the store first.
You don't have to tell them you went to the store. Also, they ate replacing these under warranty for this issue (even after the 14 day mark).
tinyman392-I sincerely appreciate your response, but the "Genius" refused to and Tech Support and Customer Service are falling back on what the Genius said after looking at it for 15 seconds on a Sunday afternoon.
I was just on the phone with a Senior Advisor in support and when I said "What if this happens to you?" he replied "It won't, I have an Android". Awesome.
I'm assuming the genius found something in the visual inspection that out it into the paid service category (lookup cLarified iPhone visual/mechanical inspection guide leaked). If your front glass is separating from the main body, you actually aren't covered. Consumer Reports found that this occurred well over 120 pounds of continuous force. Also if any portion of the phone no longer functions, it will also no longer be covered.
Did you send the rep you spoke to to any article that stated this could be covered by warranty and replaced. Right now, I think your phone failed the visual/mechanical inspection test which would have Apple suspect possible abuse. The amount of force placed on that phone is tremendous.
I recommend Apple Chat support over phone or store. With some other iffy issues I've had, they tend to be a little better with things.
Thanks for the information regarding the guide. Not separating and fully functional, currently it's a slight bend maybe 3-4 degress from horizontal. He actually suggested that I try another store. My sesne is that they're evaluated on replacements so refusing me was beneficial to him.
I get your point regarding the pressure, I really do. I know everyone says it, but I was simply carrying my phone in my front pocket, like we all do.
I can't tell if that's a 6 or 6+. However, according to your facts, I can't believe they won't fix/exchange it. I know sometimes with Apple, you have to take it in a couple of different times to get the right person. You don't need to explain you've taken it in before and were turned down. They usually eventually come through.

Speak for yourself. Some of "us" carry it in their front shirt pocket or holster even though it might seem "unkewl" to anyone born after 1992. And some women might carry it in their purse,

"We all" don't put them in our front pockets.
And those "we all" that do put them in their front pockets don't sit with them in the front pocket because it's uncomfortable to have a gigantic phone in pocket while sitting and most know stuff in your front pocket will bend when you put that kind of pressure on it.
