My itunes won't open

Ok, I've read all the forums talking about itunes not opening for them and have tried all of them and mine still will not open. I don't have an error message that comes up. I double click on my itunes icon, the hour glass comes up, and nothing. I've downloaded itunes twice now and even quicktime to my hard drive and still nothing.

Someone please help! I've called apple 3 times and have been on hold for 30+ minutes each time. i don't have time nor the minutes to stay on the phone for that long.

Hi
Well the selective start up worked fine, restarted again and blip same problem. Itunes runs for a while in processes and then dissppears, this is highly frustrating, cant seem to find any logical reason behind this. No norton, can mcafee do the same as well?. I have tried nearly every thing, any viable soloution to this?. Plus standalone QT is not even working.

I am not able to launch iTunes 7.0. I keep getting
an error message

“ The folder “iTunes” cannot be found or created and
is required. The default location for this folder is
inside the “My Music” folder”

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but doesn’t
seem to help. I also disabled the antivirus during
installation. Pl help!

b noir, please can you help me with this problem? I forgot to add that I had once inadvertently moved "My Music" folder to another destination, but have now moved it back to "My Documents"

okay, here is the best place to start with that one:

iTunes for Windows: "Disk is locked" or "iTunes folder cannot be found" when installing or opening iTunes

... but if you run into the complication where "My Music" doesn't appear as an option in TweakUI, perhaps try the alternate technique from this Nigel Carpenter post:

I have good news! Through a long a rigorous process of cleaning my computer, I've been able to open my itunes. I think all it really required was updating microsoft. I did have lots of malware and someone is still helping me with that. The activeX required me reregistering some files also. But now that I've been able to open itunes, when I hook up my ipod it says I need to restore it to factory settings but my ipod won't even show up in itunes. I've tried some of the trouble shooting things on here, anything else I can try?

al_i198xx :

I took a look at your crashlog. iTunes is crashing when trying to process the gapless playback information for an MP3 file in your library. Unfortunately there is no easy way for us to tell which MP3 file is causing the crash. When you open iTunes, do you see the gapless processing status appear in the "LCD" section of the iTunes window? If so, can you tell what the last file is that iTunes is trying to scan before it crashes?

As far as I am concerned, iTunes software for WindowsXP is nothing bu a piece of manure!!!
I cannot download any songs from iTunes because I have an older version of iTunes, and it appears I now need Version 7.0.1 - WHICH I DO NOT DARE TO INSTALL BECAUSE OF ALL THE PROBLEMS WITH THIS INSTALLATION.
Apple people just are NOT interested in Windows users, and I think they are missing BIG!
I'd like to hear from anybody on this issue, and here is my email address fvorlicek@earthlink.net.
Thanks for reading this.
