IOS 8 - Deleted Text Messages

There are several problems with messages in addition to the problem of not being able to delete just one message thread within the message. Also, sometimes you can't get the more to pop up to delete any messages so I just delete the person from the messages and then start all over again. One thing I did find out that helps is when I have problems deleting just one message thread I close out all of my apps that are running and then the trash can will appear.

I too wish that Apple would get this fixed. I have reset my settings and did a complete restore from new. I did see where another person did the same thing and then Apple gave him a new phone only to find out the same problems existed so it has been escalated to the engineers at Apple.

Seems every time I update my software to the to operating system there is always a problem, very frustrating.

Also was having a problem with my predictive keyboard disappearing too, went into settings and selected it closed it and then opened it an magically the predictive keyboard appeared.

Ok, but my issue is not what you're describing. My "trash" icon comes on with no problems. I don't have a problem deleting certain messages in a conversation. My problem is when I do delete the message in a conversation with an individual, then when I get out of the conversation, the date and time is still stamped there as to when was the last contact with that individual. That makes it, so that it is obvious we deleted a message.

I'm having this exact same problem. Was this an oversight? Did angry gfs get to Apple's CEO? It seems ridiculous that it allows you to delete a text, but the time stamp remains the same. Help!

Has Apple provided a solution?

I have the same issue with my iPhone. It is not the phone but iOS 8. The issue was escalated to a Senior Advisor who has informed me that this is "normal behavior." She swears that it has been like this since iOS 6. I sent her screenshots of of Apple devices that are not on iOS 8 that does what it suppose to do when a text message is deleted - delete the message and it should delete the time stamp! She says that "there is no option to change or modify" it. She eventually directed me here in order to "reach out to our development team." Am I at the right place? By the way, I have problems having to reset phone all the time for the trash can as well!!! Grrrrr....l!!!

I also have to close out my message app so that I can get my trash can to appear. Also sometime my more will not appear unless I close out my message app and then open it up again, GRRR!!!!

Well, this certainly isn't normal behavior, and it's still not fixed in update 8.0.2. Why is this an issue now with the new iOS?

It seems like the problem is still not fixed in iOS 8.0.3. Very disappointing...

Has anyone talked to Apple's hotline about this problem recently?

Hi Does anyone know if this has been fixed in iOS 8.2 that was released yesterday? This is very annoying, lets try to submit our feedback and make calls to Apple support to make them aware of this bug if it hasn't been fixed in yesterdays release.

Still the same for me. Not fixed yet.

Hi, Looks Like Apple just released iOS 8.3, Does anyone know if this was finally fixed in iOS 8.3?
