iphone 6 ear speaker not working

I had same issue where I couldn't hear anything when I made/received call unless I put the phone on speaker. I used dust remover to see if anything was stuck in headphone jack and there were few water droplets inside. Thanks for a lot for advise as my phone is working.

I have experienced the same problem - speaker has no output ,and it is stuck on headset.

After reading all the replies I have tried many of the solutions offered:

No moisture or dirt in headset jack socket (at least non visible via magnifying glass)

Plugged in genuine headset - no good,

Tried restart - no good,

Tried volume changes - no good.

DID NOT use compressed air - this can damage your phone if not careful!

The only one that worked was the bluetooth option. It is now working fine.

My thinking is software glitch - hope they fix it soon?

Same here problem here with my iPhone 6+ 64GB, I am very disappointed with this issue, this is frustrating, I can't trust this phone.

I try everything except the Bluetooth thing, I will do it later.

Restart: Not working

Compressed air: Not working

Connect and disconnect the original headset: Not working.

I have this issue periodically, some day works, the other day don't, some time a week work some times not... There is nothing in the headset connector, when I made a call, and increase the volume it shows the normal message, and when I connect the headset and turn up the volume it shows headset...

I think this is a glitch, the first time that I got this, I update, and intermediately the phone start working again.

Apple, please add me into your "unsatisfied" statistics.

i have an iPhone 6 which I bought in November 2014. Never had a problem with sound until a couple of weeks ago. I couldn't hear through the ear speaker or earbuds, but I could hear with speaker phone. I followed the advice to change the volume in settings up and down a few times and it didn't help. Then I tried the blast of compressed air into the earphone jack and it worked.

today it happened again BUT this time I could hear with speaker and earbuds,but not with the ear speaker. As expected, since I COULD hear with the earbuds this time,the compressed air didn't work like the first time. I went into settings and adjusted the volume several times and voila! Changing the volume in settings a few times did the trick!

even though the volume up and down switch said ringer, i used compressed gas in the headphone jack input hole and it is now working. Since I carry my iPhone 6+ in my pocket, it must get jammed with lint and thinks the headphone is plugged in.

My iphone 6 was only 2 weeks old when this happened. What did work and fixed the issue for me was the following;

1) used compressed air and blew it into the earphone jack. You cannot use your breathe btw, it has way too much vapor in it and will more than likely cause more problems. You must use dry air.

2) switch the phone into air plan mode (weird yes) and switch it out of air plane mode. Boom! works again.

One of my users have this problem with his iPhone 6. He said it started last week and only told me about it today. It's less than a month old. Called Verizon and did a couple to troubleshoot tests with them and didn't fix the issue. They're sending out a replacement phone to arrive tomorrow. Didn't try the can air or airplane mode.

I tried EVERY suggestion - nothing worked. What finally worked was going into voice memo and tapping on the speaker icon (it turns blue). Magically, I got out of headphone mode (which was the cause of the issue).

I was having exact same issue with my 5 months new iPhone 6. It is a hardware issue, NOT software or setting issue.

The problem went away after I pat the phone firmly towards my palm a few times. I guess dust off compressed can may work too.

Now I wonder if it will come back.

Hey I don't know if I'm late to the game, but I had the same issue with no audio coming from the speakers. Problem ended up being that my Bluetooth headphones were still paired as the primary audio source. Once I realized this I tried calling a friend and clicked on the speaker icon to make the iPhone my primary speaker. Hope this helps

I was struggling with the same issue. My iPhone 6 said "headphone volume" with nothing plugged in. I powered the phone down, used compressed air and contact cleaner on the earphone jack, then did multiple insertions and removals of my earbuds. After a few minutes, it magically went back to normal operation (for now).

My phone is out of warranty, so I hope this fixed it. If not, it's upgrade time!

yeah, ingots say I'm pretty ****** off at apple. I'm on my 4th 6 plus because the earpiece keeps going bad. It starts rattling and buzzing. People aren't clear. Every phone Apple has given me, the earpiece has gone bad.

Same problem. Called Apple support and got all the bs that you are passed 14 days. Of course my phone is 16 days old, hence I am getting all the bs run around "we can repair it" or you may get a refurbished phone. I have to wait 2 days for an appointment to the store for these idiots to look at the phone. There is nothing to troubleshoot. The phone is faulty and it needs to be replaced.

Since when did Apple started sucking so badly? 16 days old iPhone can't perform the basic function of being a phone and I have to go through all of the bs of getting a new device without any guarantee that I will actually get it.

I read somewhere that the solution was to set an alarm for one minute later. I did it and tried a call. The earspeaker work fine. I wanted to thank the guy that posted the answer, but was not able because I did not have an account and after creating it, I could not find it again. THANK YOU!!
