Unfamiliar Apple ID when updating *******

I just got my new iPhone 6 Plus. I backed up my old iPhone to the cloud, then turned on the new phone. I entered by Apple ID and selected to restore from the backup I had just created.

While activating, it asked me to enter my password for an iTunes account ******* I have never seen that address before. After searching online for this email address, I found one Spanish forum in which someone says they have had the same issue. 163.com is a Chinese site and I was able to find posts from someone using this exact email address, but nothing of value.

I'm now concerned for my privacy. I obviously skipped this step and didn't enter the password for this address, but my question is how did this address get associated with my phone to begin with, and what programs were on my phone that were linked to this account.

I had this problem contacted apple support and got it fixed. Do your updates one at a time. Once you update the ones that you can the app that is left is the one with the bogus email or Apple ID attached to it. Go to your home page and delete that app by doing a long press on it you should get an X to delete it. This should get rid of the bogus email. Then if you want that app you go back in the App Store and re down load it. Happy times!

I'd have to disagree with the replies above - you say this only happens when restoring from a backup, and the dialog refers to it as an iTunes account and not an iCloud account? This means that it thinks some apps or other media that you had on your old phone that was backed up was downloaded by that other Apple ID. You should be able to cancel that prompt and still proceed with the restore.

That's interesting but the OP does not recognize the address. However, there is, as you say, the specific semantics on the message. Unfortunately, the OP has not yet confirmed that those words are accurate.

The activation check link posted by wegras will resolve this. If if WAS activated, my post is appropriate. If it was NOT activated, your post is appropriate.

Sorry for the short posts, I will go into more detail here.

I bought the phone from Sprint when I switched my service to them. I previously had an iPhone 5s that I backed up to iCloud. I never saw this email address on that phone and have never downloaded anything under another iTunes account.

When I was setting up this new iPhone 6+ I restored it from the iCloud back up. Everything went smoothly until I got to the home screen and the Apple ID prompt popped up with this unknown address. I can cancel out of the prompt and continue to use the phone like normal. However, the prompt will pop up randomly through out the day. I have attached a screenshot of the prompt. It does not look like a normal Apple ID prompt as I can edit the email field.

Any assistance is greatly appreciated. Thank you all for the quick responses!

Sounds like your "new" iPhone wasn't new after all. Someone associated it with an Apple ID before you obtained it. Your ONLY solution is to return it to the seller and get a refund. Then buy another one.
