Unfamiliar Apple ID when updating *******

I just got my new iPhone 6 Plus. I backed up my old iPhone to the cloud, then turned on the new phone. I entered by Apple ID and selected to restore from the backup I had just created.

While activating, it asked me to enter my password for an iTunes account ******* I have never seen that address before. After searching online for this email address, I found one Spanish forum in which someone says they have had the same issue. 163.com is a Chinese site and I was able to find posts from someone using this exact email address, but nothing of value.

I'm now concerned for my privacy. I obviously skipped this step and didn't enter the password for this address, but my question is how did this address get associated with my phone to begin with, and what programs were on my phone that were linked to this account.

OMG. I'm glad that I found this thread. Exactly same thing happened to me while I was restoring from iCloud backup. For me, 4 of unknown Apple IDs showed up which are

Same with you, I never used other Apple ID to download apps but this happened. I was still able to continue with the restoring process by clicking "Skip this step" but what I'm worried about is my security. From my understanding, correct me if I'm wrong, this means before I restored my phone, there was unauthorized apps/files downloaded on the phone without me knowing. I called Apple Support but not much help. They are saying that because I don't know the password of the above Apple IDs, I shouldn't have any problem thus I'm able to continue with restoring process. But WHAT I'M CONCERNED IS IF MY SECURITY HAS BEEN COMPROMISED BEFORE.

No way anybody can jailbreak an iPhone 6. And no, my phone was NOT jailbroken. And how can anyone install an app other than from iTunes App Store. I didn't know such thing was possible. It's weird and probably sounds nothing serious for those who never experienced it, but once you get the message on your phone, it's pretty scary. After completion of restoring process, the message popped up again so I think I'm just going to delete the backup and start a new. And if many of people experiencing this problem have their phone jailbroken, we'd kinda know that it's due to jailbreaking... and not frantically searching for the answers here...

That's not true, but I won't go into it any further.

There are several ways, but again I won't go into them in detail. One clear one is if you have a company MS Exchange account on your phone with a corporate enterprise profile. This allows company-provided apps to be installed, and also rogue apps due to a security vulnerability in the enterprise profile (that was fixed in 8.4.1, but apps from web links before that fix will still be present).

Another is if the phone was ever restored using an ipsw file obtained from a website other than Apple's servers.

Both of these involve Chinese hackers, which would be consistent with the Chinese email addresses.

It can also have happened before you got the phone, if it wasn't new when you got it.

What you need to do is restore the phone using DFU mode, and do not restore your backup.
