iPad Air since iOS 8: Apps not updating and downloading no longer possible. Fix?

This problem only really started in the past couple days. I can no longer update apps, cannot download books from the store in the books app and cannot download newspapers in my newsstand. Also, my Adobe reader for iPad open but shows a blank page for 15 seconds before closing and returning to my iPad home screen.

Previous to this, the first few days of iOS 8 did not give me problems, though I had not yet tested all of the above items but apps updated easily for first few days (until 22 sept). Is there a fix?

This is to the community...

I purchased an iPad Air and cannot download or update apps? I took it to an Apple Store and she reset it and that fixed the problem but only temporarily! I am very frustrated having to reset every time. I think this is an IOS problem as it is also occurring on my iPhone! Surely Apple has to be aware of these problems??

This thread: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/6548849?start=285&tstart=0 makes a connection between apps in newsstand (WSJ in particular) and this problem.

For me, new apps bought on my mac or iPhone were stuck in "waiting" mode on my iPad. After deleting the Wired magazine app in my Newsstand, logging out my account in iTunes settings, restarting, and logging back in, everything works again. I don't know which of those steps was most important, but just letting people know what worked for me.

Right now it's ios 8.1.7 and they have not fixed the problem. Everything freezes in the settings page, and it keeps asking for your apple ID when you've already put in the correct password. It's annoying, and you can't downgrade.

Just disabling iCloud Photo Library Beta under Settings\Photos & Camera did it for me - I did a hard reboot by holding home button and power button - after reboot apps immediately starting downloading.

I Had the same problem, but I had a VPN add block filter installed. Turns out it also blocks the App Store!
