Camera lock screen iPhone 5 not working properly after upgrade to iOS 8

After I installed iOS 8 on the iPhones 5 of my and my wife's the camera on the lock screen isn't working properly anymore. When I swipe up, the camera starts but the screen turns black within less then a second.

On the iPad 2 and the iPad Air (both upgraded to iOS 8) I don't have this problem. It seems to be iPhone 5 specific.


Has anyone else experienced this problem?

Hi man


I did both ways, i reset adjusts from itunes and directly, even i went back to previous security copies, also tried with reset setting, but i still don't know what happened with the camera, from instagram it says "Error Launching the camera. Please try again", in whatsapp and directly in the camera just goes black. I hope there is some way to fix.......

The same problem here! With the camera of my iPad mini! It started when i install iOS 8 , 8.01 and with 8.1 now! When I open the camera app some times the back camera works but when i switch it to the front camera it gets black and freeze!

I Try restore, restore as a new device, remove passcode, reset all settings and NOTHING!

APPLE repair it please camera is a build in app so it's a huge bug!(and many more!) 😠

Try the following procedure:


- Disable lockscreen password;

- Remove all fingerprints registered (slide left over each one and tap delete);

- Reboot the device in normal way (hold the power button, slide to turn off);

- Turn on again;

- Enable the password and register the fingerprints again.


For me it solved without be necessary to RESET ALL SETTINGS (this is really annoying thing to do, you loose all your configurations).

I had the black screen problem (lockscreen camera) since I updated to iOS 8, later to iOS 8.02 and later to iOS 8.1.


Now, I'm completing 3 days without the problem after perform the procedure above.........
